Aston Martin Lapel Pin

Hi there guys, I can't remember if I've asked this before, but a quick search didn't turn up anything so here goes.
A while back I purchased this AM lapel pin. I've heard different stories regarding these, one being they were given out at the DBS launch party.
Anyways, you can find them on ebay now and again for anything between a fiver and up to fifty quid.
Does anyone know the true reason they were made, anything specific or just another piece of AM merchandise, or a true value at all?
The other badges have been collected over time by the way, the engine cover badge being a rare find on ebay.
Cheers peoples,

Sorry, can't be any help.
Just wanted to compliment you on your nice stuff. I love seeing these odd collectibles. Imaginative collecting!
That engine badge......want one........
http://tinyurl.com/4ora7dn
If anyones picking one up would be great if they could grab me one!
the engine cover badge however is rare, £85 brand new from AM, and most scrapped astons have them robbed before they ever get chance to appear on ebay. i bought mine by contacting an auto-salvage yard and requesting it.
the stick pin however isn't available from Aston Martin, and I never have seen it for sale on their website. All I know is its silver as its hallmarked.
glad you guys like these, just a few of the many aston related bits i've got, among many JB stuf too.

Sorry to temporarily change the subject......I need Sruzgar's attention.
Sruzgar, you asked if any members are from Japan (to help you with something) at the end of January.
I posted you a reply but then the topic went dead.
Can I help?
Plus, I'm waiting to see more pictures of minigeff's pretty Aston stuff.
your wish is my command matt, before we get started, I hope things are ok for you guys in Japan, thoughts are with you.
without further adooooo, heres some pics of my Aston Martin collection;
this is the pen from the penatia pen/pencil set I've got. I've also got the Lamy extending pen, available from AM's website
am sign laser etched into a piece of walnut, with an official AM bonnet badge
this model got me started on AJB. made as a bit of an experiment, i used the JBCC issue 20 dbs, and weathered it to look like the dbs after its battle in qos. this model got the ball rolling for me, and introduced me to a whole new circle of mates.
this pic shows the above 1:43 dbs inside its clear acrylic case, remember this one for later
heres a before and after set. again using the JBCC dbs model, i stripped another down and sprayed it up in the correct colour.
staying with the 1:43 dbs theme, i also converted a model to represent the dbs after its record breaking barrel roll sequence in casino royale. this model is a one off.
unfortunately, the model was damaged after a trip in the UK postal service. it was sent away to be signed, as it was to be auctioned off for charity. sadly the signing wasn't possible, so the model was returned to me in just a jiffy bag, hence the unwanted damage and the broken off boot lid.
staying with the 1:43 theme, heres every aston to feature in a bond film, in 1:43 scale. the db5 and v8 vantage seen here are JBCC/UH and the rest are minichamps.
heres the 1:43 lola am powered lmp1, with the 1964 db5 by minichamps
finishing off the 1:43 scales, heres my limited edition dbr9 set, featuring the 2005 car and the 2009 car. these cars were used before aston martin racing moved soley into the gp1 league of the le mans 24hrs with the lola lmp1.
here's the kyosho 1:12 aston martin v12 vanquish. a superb model, i got this one cheap off ebay as it was slightly damaged.
heres solido's 1:18 dbr9 2009 car in the gulf colours. for the price its a great model, with opening doors and removable bonnet. imo, way better than the autoart model.
next up is probably the most gorgeous car i've ever sat in. the 1959 aston martin dbr1. this model is made by shelby collectibles. the model features quite a few errors, but its the only 1:18 scale model of it, and this one is one of one hundred signed by the 1959 le mans winner, roy salvadori.
remember the 1:43 dbs from qos? well this is its bigger brother. using a ertl 1:18 dbs model, i converted it to the qos dbs spec. the model features a blood stained boot, bullet holes in all the correct places, body damage, a mini ump on the passenger seat and even the right number of shell cases in the footwell.
this is a minichamps 1:18 db9 model, resprayed in toro red to match the car i had a driving experience in. i made the display case, and the base, which lights up with some white led's. the case is engraved with the date i got to drive this lovely car.
this is all the above 1:18's in a stack.
this is my coffee table. when i bought it, it featured a frosted glass panel, which i removed and replaced with a clear pane. i then built a box to fit underneath the table, and voila, i got a place to display a set of 1:18 aston models. in there is autoarts gen5 db5 model, solido's dbr9, ertls vanquish, and ertl's dbs from casino royale
also in the table are a couple of oringial aston martin and lagonda stick pins.
if you haven't got this dvd, and you're an aston fan, buy it.
this is something rather special to me. given to me by my late father, i needed a box to put it in. so i made this oak box, laser etched with the am wings logo. the box houses an original 1960's era aston stick pin. it means the world to me.
the pin sits on a see saw mechanism, which when pressed on the aston logo, tilts to release the pin.
hiding behind a door, a tamiya 1:24 dbs model. yet to get round to making this.
this is a valve from the 2005 dbr9 le mans engine in the 007 car. i picked it up on ebay for a tenner and made this display case to show it in.
another ebay find, for a tenner i got a pair of db9 exhaust ends. added to a base they make rather quirky pen pots/desk tidys.
aston martin racing team shirt
another team shirt
tiny 1:72 scale db7 and db5 (mini sneeked in to shot at last momen, its a mini adventure)
old aston tie pin in original box
last but not least, my trademark aston martin cap.
thats about all i have to show for now. theres books and other models but for now this is the collection.
hope you enjoyed looking through my stuff guys.

Tokyo Matt, I sent you a Private Message regarding the matter and to reiterate what minigeff said I hope you and your friends/family are safe!
tbh, some of the items, like the team shirts and the exhaust ends have been real lucky finds on ebay.
another thing sprung to mind when taking all these pics was the amount i'd got. its only wheni began taking pics did i realise the many different items, plus the others that are in a cupboard hidden away. daftly, i've got more books, dvds and photos, plus another dbs model im saving......
i'll have to look out for a shop closing down and get some display cabinets some time.

Really enjoyed looking at your stuff.
Thanks gents for your concern about the events in Japan. Fortunately, my family are Tokyo through and though, no relatives up North where the disaster is. Unfortunately, this is not the case for some of my nearest and dearest friends.........
Three things to say about the photos:-
1) You're showing off
2) You thoroughly deserve to show off
3) Everybody is enjoying the benefit of your showing off.
You're collection seems to have caused a bit of a stir on the forum.
I've got to get one of those pens.
I'm a bit of a pen nerd. Got some expensive ones and some not so expensive ones, but you cannot imagine how much I want an "Aston Martin pen" for my collection.
My Dad had an Aston for a very short while. He bought it cheap off some guy who was in trouble and sold it cheap for a quick, easy, small profit. I never evenrode in it. That was back in the eighties. It was some ugly seventies model that was past it's prime. But oh, if I had only thought to rip the bonnet badge off when Dad wasn't looking!
Want that pen though.
minigeff, again, thank you for your effort putting those pictures up.
But how does one "laser etched with the am wings logo" a home made wooden box?
Have you got a laser beam too?
Why do I have a picture in my head of the wooden box tied to a metal table, sweating about the lid and trembling slightly, as the laser beam works its way up the table towards it and minigeff utters from the fringes "No, wooden box, I expect you to etch!"?
in all honesty, i have access to one, its not a free resource though, but definitely worth the results.
and thanks for the nice comments guys, i'll have to post some pics of the bond collection when i get it on display.

I still want an Aston pen.
I'm going to fix a laser beam to my aston pen.
Then I can laser etch the wooden box I'm going to keep the pen in.
Better still I'm going to get that pet shark of yours to laser etch the box for me.
If he can't spell "Aston Martin", "AM" will do. Lets face it nobody complains to a shark about spelling, especially one with a laser beam stiched on his head.
from left to right;
parker technical pencil, my dad's shaefer, old vintage extendable magnet pickup tool, a cross fountain pen, aston martin penatia mechanical pencil, aston martin penatia twist ballpoint, muji half sized mechanical pencil, parker jotter ballpoint and the lamy pico extending aston martin ballpoint. behind them is a selection of 6 inch rules.
and for simon, here's the back of the lapel pin with its hallmark

That did it. I couldn't take it anymore. I had to have an Aston Marten pen.
So I just splashed out £35 each on two pen and pencil sets. I couldn't believe how cheap they were. Winging their way to me as I type.
My wife says I'm like one of those tossers who has a porche keyring and really owns a ford.
I said I'm not, I'm like one of those tossers who has an Aston Marten pen and doesn't own a car at all. Big difference luv.
Nice one minigeff. I love the DB5 and pens are one of my few things I spoil myself with. But if I hadn't seen your photo by chance it would never have occured to me to but this pen. Didn't even occur to me there was such a thing.
This will be the first little AM wings logo in my home.
Completely unrelated story.
I saw a western kid walking around Tokyo late last night, in the rain, carrying a small rucksack.
I asked if he was lost.
He's a volunteer disaster worker from Richmond, Virginia. Just left Haiti and he's struggling his way to the North of Japan to help out.
He's 18 years of age, not from a wealthy background. He does this for no payment.
Took him home, fed and watered him. He's asleep on our sofa at the moment.
Hat off to him. He's a better man than me.
Restores your faith in human nature doesn't it.
His names Brett and I just wanted to tell somebody about him.
I'm not making this up...................
I spoke to the young lad who has impressed me so much when he woke up.
His full name is Brett Reisling................Bond!
No kidding.
How funny that I should have chose this site to sound off about him.
Thinking about it, he's the first Bond I've ever met.
