Cheers All,
Thanks for all the kind feedback on the DBS. Just a thought- I would like to display the car at the Stanford Concours as film seen from the wedding, complete with carnation(?) flowers.
Only trouble is, that I am very good at working on and restoring Astons, but have absolutely no knowledge of flowers, or even how to string one!
I need the sage advice of my AJB bretheren. How do they attach to not fall off when we drive in?
I am busy now fixing power steering leaks, and making her run!
Thanks, Tom

Edit: On the other hand, you might need the sail palm after all. I can't remember If I used it or not. It will aid in pushing the needle through the stem side.

Btw there are a range of different species on the pics u show..
My mum in law was a florist and the wife can tell u precisely which species in which,
If u care !!
But superb idea.can't wait for the pics -{
I'd take a printout to a silk flower shop and buy a few strings of whatever they have that looks the part. The silk flowers will allow you to keep the display for future events, as well as not leave as much residue behind on the car's finish.
I'll pass the image by a couple friends who know flowers and see if I can get you any definite matches. My untrained eye sees a bunch of white carnations and pink tulips.

As usual, my AJB bretheren have some wonderful ideas. I like the idea of using silk flowers the best, as I as concerned about the residue on the paint.
I will definitely go to a flower marts, as they have a quite a large area of these in San Francisco near the Galleria Design Centre.
Keep the ideas coming!
Thank you AJB brethren,
Tom

Glad we could be of help. I would have to agree. If you're going to display it for any length of time, silk flowers would be your best bet. Please post pictures when you can.

Little trivia- do you see the glovebox lamp on the left? It is a DB5 turn signal lamp! Only a few really insane folks would spot that one. There is another, smaller lamp that I used o the top of the box, and that is a generic British one that says "Lucas," which is what Q-Branch would have certainly used in the '60's.
I like how you say that the whole car is a prop! It really is, if you think about it. Worked until after midnight tonight on the car- found a massive fuel leak due to a defective seal on the brand new fuel pump. It is fixed, and I will be installing the distributor tomorrow, as it has arrived from England just today, and should start her up for the first time. 4.7 Litre crankshaft with special rods, Vantage cams, larger, Vantage spec valves, and those 3 Weber carburettors, hopefully, should sing!
We have oil pressure, fuel pressure, and spark, so it should be a go!
Say some prayers...
Cheers, Tom
My grandfather owned a DB5 (briefly), DB6 (for twenty years) and a DBS. All were sold when the family business failed after he retired. I've traced the DBS and have made the owner an offer. It's not in a good state of repair, but if they eventually decide to sell I aim to restore it and change the colour to OHMSS spec. Fingers crossed!

Yes, one of the greatest and coolest Bond props ever and from one of the best Bond movies ever. Again, you are a lucky devil. I wish you well with starting her up. I know that with autos it can be a pain in the a$$ sometimes starting them up after a rebuild. You turn her over and she won't start, then you go through the fuel system and the ignition system only to find a small wire to the coil that inadvertantly became disconnected while putting her back together. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Hope she purs like a kitty.

Just returned from a 12 hour work day on the Aston.
Anything and everything that could go wrong did go worng. Here are a few examples:
1. O-ring that is supplies with special 1-2-3 electronic ignition distributor was the incorrect size, so I spent hours trying to find the correct one online, and tracked down a Ferrari camshaft one, that I had to travel an hour each way to a customer/friend of mine to retrieve.
2. Distributor hold down clamp as supplied by the manufacturer was also incorrect, so it was off to the machine shop to weld up some bead, and mill to spec to fit.
3. Massive fuel leak from brand new Malpassi fuel pressure regulator- found, after disassemby, a burr on the flat sealing part that hemmoraged fuel out the side.
3. Another fuel leak discovered in one of the store bought fittings under car.
4. Fuel leak back on the Malpassi unit, one of the lead plugs was bubbling an leaking- great quality control by the manufacturers, so it was off to the machine shop across town, back to the shop to work for a while, then off again to pick up the part...
...So, after a short rest I will be back at it tomeorrow by 8AM, and we should be firing her up!
To answer Secretagent's question regarding photos of the restoration- I have an entire website devoted to the project: www.OHMSSDBS.com....enjoy!
And so it goes. Just keep plugging and eventually she'll be purring like a kitten and the hiccups will diminish. Unfortunately, it will be according to when she's ready and her time schedule, not yours. You must become Zen like when tuning automobiles or motorcycles. I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed for you.

I have just received our acceptance letter to "The Quail," THE premiere Concours d' Elegance at Quail Lodge in Monterey. The event is part of the Monterey Week that includes Pebble Beach, Concorso Italiano, and the Historic Races.
Just to be selected for this event is an honour in and of itself, and I hope to represent all in our JB collecting community by displaying the OHMSS DBS, and winning Best of Show!
Photos from the event in August will be posted...
Cheers,
Tom
Doing some research tonight, I discovered that I do not have a clear, frontal photo showing the flowers on the DBS.
I have, of course, the "Making of" book, which shows every angle but a full frontal.
Looked on the DVD, but no joy yet.
Any suggestions? Drawings?
PM me if you can.
thanks, Tom
top marks so far, really really envy you mate! -{

So hardly relaxing but most satisfying.
Here is a photo of a John Bolster test of GKX 8G, clearly showing the "Vantage" side emblems that some have written never existed on this car....
