It was enough to make Roger Moore want to leave the James Bond movies. I wonder what the very last scene was he filmed in "A View To A Kill"?

It's freakin' 2011 and we still have wingnuts out there complaining about "mixed relationships"?!!! If you really believe that, you are a racist, plain and simple. Of course you entitled to feel that way, but don't try to sugarcoat it by saying you are "sorry" to sound that way.

Another enjoyable forum ruined by backward thinking.
Ben Whishaw as "Q"? I always thought "Q" was older than James Bond. Desmond Llewelyn was 48 at the time of filming From Russia With Love (1963). Sean Connery was 32 at the time of filming. Ben Whishaw will be 31 while filiming Bond 23.
If Ben Whishaw is to be "Q", then I hope they use the actor for many Bond movies, not just for one appearance.
I'm sorry to sound "racial" and "prejudice" (their are those words again), but I do not want a black woman to be "Miss Moneypenny" against the white British James Bond. If Naomi Harris is to be "Moneypenny" (not confirmed) and be flirtatious, I'm not buying it already. A black woman being spicy with a white man is a real turn off to me. I don't like mixed relationships.
I didn't like Grace Jones with Roger Moore either in "A View To A Kill". The kissing scene nearly made me vomit.
"Felix Leiter, a brother from Langley."

I always wonder about racists. Have you never been attracted to a woman of a different race? I find that hard to imagine. Let your pants free your mind.

Let's not take this thread down a racial route. It's 2011, personally I'd like to think of skin colour as an incidental, but alas I know there are people out there who don't. That aside, we're not going to have a proxy debate about mixed-race relationships.

Need a good fight where Bond is outmatched or evenly matched. Loved both Casino Royale and QoS, but Bond has been just a little too unstoppable (the torture scene doesn't count; it wasn't a fight). The fight scenes have been too short and Bond has won a little too easily. We need a real good fight, a la 007 vs. Red Grant or Alec Trevelyan, which were two of my favorites in the series.

I'm sorry, but I find the above post to be a completely wrong & inappropriate thing to post in not only a Bond forum, but any other fair minded forum for that matter. I'm sure the likes of Combat 18 etc can accommodate such thinking. As someone who is presently in a so-called 'mixed relationship', I'm stunned to read this thinking here. This is 2011 for crying out load, not 1911.

I fully appreciate that this thread doesn't need to plummet to these depths & trust that it'll remain on course, however this quoted post really takes the biscuit with it's particularly unsavoury undertone - of course this is IMO.

Belivable, yet interesting stuff.

I love that Freddie Lyon (Ben Whishaws charecter in The Hour) is Bond fan. He reads Casino Royale at work an calls his female producer and friend Bel "Moneypenny". I am sure Whinshaw can make the part of Q his own and make it interesting.

1 - Gunbarrel in traditional place and traditionally scored (i.e. the only electronic element should be the guitar).
2 - Short, snappy pre-title action sequence, not Brosnan era bloatedness.
3 - Good title song to erase the memory of the Jack White & Alicia Keys turkey.
4 - Lucy Pinder as Miss Moneypenny.

Great points, apart from the last one. She would cheapen the role.

I want another very memorable henchman, someone like Red Grant in FRwL. Mr White is close to being one but I just want someone more hands-on. :P

I would like to see a henchman with the background/personality Flemming describes for Red Grant. In the novel Grant has a serial killer personality and has a overpowering urge to kill. SMERSH finds him and they strike a deal: Grant kills whoever they order him to and they give him money and protection in return. I would like to see someone like that working for Quantum. He would of course have an other name, look and MO of killing - perhaps a knife expert? He should be tall and looking like he could really kill Bond. It`s time for a really frightening henchman!

Great idea, but they need someone who will tower over Craig and look as though he could rip him apart I know how about Ronnie Corbett.

How about Swedish actor Michael Persbrandt? He is roughly 6` 3`` and plays arrogant bastards very well. Bond films should hire people who are leading actors in their home country to play supporting roles. That way you get new faces that can hold the screen.

I wouldn't mind seeing Joaquin Cosio return as a villain. Have you seen him in the movie trailer of La Pastorela (2011)?

My wife thinks that Rowan Atkinson would make a great Q.

    Just saw this in Bond23.net:

Ben Wishaw‘s name continues to be associated with the production, although it is unclear what role he might be lined up for.

I may get what I wished for ...

Actually this rumour is "all over the net" and some speculate like me if he is the new Q/Quartermaster/Bootheroyd.

I would say EON Productions is doing a good job in just letting the rumors flying around. It's like "the telephone game", the more people that talk about it, the more people add to it and it gets bigger. Naomi Harris hopes she auditioned for the role of "Miss Moneypenny", but she doesn't know what role she auditioned for because they had her read from the Quantum of Solace script. When Naomi Harris started bragging, the producers said that she had not been confirmed for any role yet.
I do not believe EON Productions has said anything about bringing back "Q" in this movie.
Perhaps the upcoming press conference will be full of surprises and that is why the producers are being tight-lipped right now. They don't want anyone to steal their thunder.

You can very well be right, I know. Wishaw may end up playing a banker, a taxi driver or a hotel manager. But I do like the idea of him being Q.
  • james362001james362001 Lancaster, California USAPosts: 338MI6 Agent
I'm not familiar with Ben Whishaw's work, but I would like "Q" to return only if they use the same actor for a many years. This James Bond 2012 movie sounds great so far with an all-star cast.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,338MI6 Agent
Ben Whisaw has allready been in two of DC`s films: "Enduring Love" and "Layer Cake". He has worked on the stage, in TV and radio and in other films. But he is probably best known for playing the lead in the film "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer". Whishaw is still just 30 years old, so if he is cast as Q he could play him for very many years.

    I agree 100%.

Here are some things I´d like to see in the next Bond movie(s).

I´d like to see the Felix/007 friendship develop as it did in the novels. So more screen time for Jeffrey Wright, I think he and Craig could be a great `team`. It would be nice to have them in the same car talking about the merits of British vs. American cars like they did in Fleming´s DAF.
A short PTS, that has nothing to do with the plot of the rest of the movie, finished with a great stunt.
In another thread, (now closed) Thunderpussy said he thought Adrian Lester would make a good Bond, I agree, but having Craig in the role and the things discussed in the thread mentioned above and others, I’d like to see him as another 00 in Bond 23 and maybe beyond.

I don't want Craig to do a one-liner really, but I'd like more satirical type humour, of a topical bent. Not like NSNA exactly, more like GF, which was steeped in post-Profumo affair sardonic touches. They missed the chance of it in the last few films, could have sent up the whole spin stuff with politicians, have Bond being sarcastic about it. It's an easy way of getting the audience onside.
