NSNA item

Guys, just a little excited but I was able to pick up a Walther p5 compact from a friend of mine today and have been wanting one since I saw NSNA when it came out. I know Bond used a P5 but this is such a clean looking gun I wish they would have switched from the PPK to this back in the day. I will post some pics when I take them

The P5 is a great gun and such a joy to shoot. Here's a pic of mine.

Been meaning to add a P5 to my collection as well. If memory serves Moore carried one as well in Octopussy which came out around the same time as NSNA. Nice Coldheart96!

Yes, a very strange continuity error... In the next shot, Moore switched back already :D

Anyway, I feel the P5 is a bit too plump. Besides that, the Dutch police have been using them but are now turning to Sig Sauer. One of the reasons being P5's firing at random, for instance when dropping on the ground.

I was convinced ( and still am ) that Moore having the P5 in Octopussy and Connery having the same pistol in NSNA was no accident, but never bothered to investigate.

The P5 is indeed a very nice handgun. always admired the decocker that also drops the slide - very well thought out. It is a bit bulky for a "secret agent" pistol, and not nearly as sexy as the PPK, but it was a nice change. At least as far as Bond is concerned we are back to the proper PPK..... for now.

The P5 fires when dropped! Guess I was lucky never to have dropped mine.... anyway that makes it a real Bond gun, since Connery's PPK fired when he dropped it at Palmyra!

Did not know that about the P5 with regard to being dropped. Nevertheless, I always thought it was a handsome gun. A great looking piece.

Hummm Jeff… what can I say – NSNSA is a very very nice movie – an personally I find Klaus Marie Bandauer better than adolfo celi as Largo…Even Connery looks younger than in DAF lol

    you should watch it ;)

Great Find! I myself purchased a Rings Blue Guns P5 replica in the fall, and I must say if you cannot obtain a real P5 it is a nice compromise. As I understand the P5 for its time was a decent single stack 9mm pistol and was very accurate due to its design being based on the older P38 pistol from World War II. Safety wise though many automatic pistols has the potential of an accidental discharge if dropped. Thought I am not a firearms expert as long as you use common sense and follow all the safety guidelines this should not be a problem.

    Thanks again for sharing.

Here is my P5C. I also have an ad for the P5 when it came out that ties into NSNA. When I get a chance I will scan and post a pic so you can print it out.25081721.jpg
