Alec McCowen as Q Again

In case you didn't know, Alec McCowen played Q (and they also gave him the first name of Algernon) in Never Say Never Again, which is my favorite of the films... despite its being unofficial. I thought he played a very good version of the character even though his time was short. My first question is, does he still act and would you being interested in his return as Q? Also, was Desmond Llewelynn's Q ever referred to as Algernon, or was that something made up for NSNA?

Welcome to AJB, NSNAFan! {[] I hope your stay here is an interesting and rewarding one.

Llewelyn's Q was never referred to by first name as far as I recall, although he is referred to as Major Boothroyd, who was based on Geofrrey Boothroyd so perhaps we can say that Q's first name was Geoffrey. He was never called Algernon though, obviously an NSNA invention.

As for the first part of your question, McCowen's last recorded credit on IMDB was 2002 (Gangs of New York) so it looks as though he hasn't done any film work in a while. Frankly I didn't like his performance as Q - in fact I like very little about NSNA. I enjoyed his performance as Inspector Oxford in Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy - a great film in my opinion.

Hi NSNAFan, Not my favourite Bond movie but better than some in the official series,But I do prefer Desmond Llewelyn as Q as, I thought A Cowen was too young. Although he did get a great line.

"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
