An Idea

I know there are a lot of people out there who feel that the novels are superior to the movies. Well, what if all the original Fleming books were redone as made-for-TV movies, but following the novels exactly as they were?

I have thought of this in the past, and I like the idea...if they were done properly I think it could be very entertaining.

A good idea, I think, although I think you'd have to change some things anyway.

Can't see EON agreeing to it but. There have been a few radio plays of Bond stories on BBC Radio 4 and I think if an animation could be added to the sound track of these, well drawn in the same vein as the Batman cartoon with a 50's feel.and of course over time other stories could be added.
It would be intresting to see Bond and the villians drawn as Fleming described them.

Would be interesting indeed....Brian Blessed as Sir Hugo Drax, anybody?

This has been discussed before, but I think it's a great idea. I like the idea of keeping it in time with the novels - a classic feel to it. The novels were pretty lightweight to be fair, so an hour and a half on the screen could easily do it - but done well and kept very true to the books I think they would be great to watch. :D

Not a bad idea, but I don't know if all of the novels would work on the screen. The Spy Who Loved Me in particular comes to mind.

This is an excellent idea. I think the novels would work just fine for television if they are adapted by someone who knows how. A writer of the Masterpiece Theater calibre instead of from EON stable of hacks.

I've said before I'd like to see director Andrew Grieve and the producers of the Horatio Hornblower telefilms tackle the James Bond novels. Some excellent writers worked on that series of films, too.

I'd much rather see this idea come to fruition than the next EON film, which is just going to be more of the same rot.
