80's Primetime Soaps

Did anyone here watch shows like Dallas, Falcon Crest, Knots Landing, Dynasty, The Colbys, etc.? Most of them ended in the 90's, but they were most popular in the decade before. Oh, did you hear that they're filming a continuation of Dallas to air on TNT? Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray are going to be in the pilot episode.

I remember those shows but never watched them. I was only a kid and didn't have interest. Some came on after my bed time.

There were many gorgeous glamorous ladies on those shows. I used to have a crush on every resident " rich cruel b*tch" there was. Donna Mills' Abby, Stephanie Beachem and of course Joan Collins' Alexis.

After Larry Hagman's character was shot it was a BIG topic discussion. (Who shot JR?) I'm also a William Devane fan so seeing him on these type shows was great. (though at the time I didn't know who he was)

My Mum was a big fan of all of them, so they where on but I never had much interest in them although I do remember all the fuss over who shot JR?.

I was a fan of Dallas, I really got a kick out of J.R, my wife and I used to watch it all the time. I also intend to give the new Dallas series a look, hopefully it is good and incorporates the oil business into the plot line.

Remember the bumper stickers, T-shirts etc. "I shot Jr". They were every where at the time.

Yeah, the first two series were prime time stuff and then at some point it jumped the shark. Young Lucy was a bit of a Bibi from FYEO, a young blonde teen nympho. I particularly remember her seducing her fella Mitch I think, who was trying to study, by dropping her kit, the camera pointing at the floor in tradtional fashion to witness her skirt hitting the floor, while he gradually cottoned on. Impressionable days.

My grandmother was a huge fan of Knots Landing, not as much on the others. I didn't really watch it but from the little I did, I though William Devane's character Greg Sumner was the coolest guy on tv at the time. Always had the best eyewear.

I looked for the tortoise frame he wore in the last season and a half forever but never could find it. I did find several that he owned, Oliver Peoples is pretty open to letting you know what their famous customers wear but that apparently wasn't one of their frames. Right now I'm having a custom frame made to match that one by a company in England using bootleg DVD screen caps and some sample frames I've collected over the years.
