I was hoping that rumors of Amy Winehouse doing the theme would come true, but sadly it is no longer possible. I just want something more smooth and classic than "ANOTHER Way To Die!"

I'd give Alicia Keys another chance to prove that she's Bond-worthy.

    Besides this: Joss Stone!

It may be too much of a throwback to the "old" Bond, but I was curious to know what you guys think of it. A few weeks ago I bought the album Praise and Blame by Tom Jones a few days before seeing him perform at a festival. I think he still has a great voice with loads of body to it. I’d like it if he would sing the theme for Bond 23.

Agree with both of those. I think Another Way to Die could have been amazing if it didn't try jamming her talents and voice with a very different musician's harder style. Mr. White and Ms. Keys are great, but I think she is the one more fitted to the opportunity.

And Joss Stone is just plain excellent. I am okay with Adele as well, but she is on a uber popular streak so who knows if they want that or not.

Well I think Adele could have a stab at it and apparently William Hill, the betting people think the same... and Rhianna would be an interesting choice too....

Daniel Craig has said he'd like "The kings of leon" to do it. So I think the producers should move heaven and earth to get them as Not only is he a Fine actor but his Knowlage on music is Beyond any one else's.

    Thunderpussy ! I'm shocked at you !

I thought you would have wanted Daniel to sing the theme tune himself ! ;)

If Craig did suggest Kings of Leon, then I'm somewhat impressed with his musical taste. For a newer band they're pretty good.

    Hi All

I have read all the posts on here re: the new theme song!!!!

Following the quality theme tune from Jack Black and Alicia Keys.....they should definately get to do another!!!!

    So the story goes.......

    Part 1
Bond Producers have a choice of a number of artists.....but think I know lets go modern...add a little rapping to the theme that will be cool and we'll get the kids interested after all saville row suited bond and bling mix right...Chav it up a bit????

    Part 2
Song is released to a rather pathethic response from radio listeners....and gets very little air time!!!

and then simultaneously Duffy releases her take on a Bond theme...............which becomes one of the biggest hits of the year!!!!!

In response to the previous posters...............Shirley Bassey/Tom Jones...I'm sorry they've had their day and it would not be a step in the right direction to take bond forward!!!

Amy Wino......is now dead (although I'm really concerned that the producers will dig up some track of hers to release as the theme song just to try and be in with the kids again!!!!)

There are probably a number of new artists out there that can do a belter of a good song if the song is written right....the biggest problem with the Jack White/Alicia Keys track was the style of the song.....it just did not suit the style of the series!!!

The crucial part of getting the theme right is writing a song that is in keeping with the series and its overall themes....this was pretty much the formula for all of the previous songs and it worked.....for "Another way to die" it seemed to be pick an artist and have them come up with an interpretation!!!!

Personally I would like to see Duffy given a chance to write the official song.....A nice combination of classic versus modern!!!!

Ps: still can't watch Quantum of Solace without remembering how much I cringed in the cinema when the theme played!!!!

    Best Wishes

She would be fantastic. I think she is great (well, her first album) lyrically and vocally.

On the subject of Duffy, I think she is on a hiatus from singing for the next several months, but who knows when she will be back:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsN_vnL_AYs&feature=artist

She of course could sing it differently for a modern Bond song.

I like this one as well, but there are several good ones from her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rHNOTtShwM&feature=artist

I give my vote to Shirley Bassey since Bond 23 will be the 50th Anniversary film. However, I thought "The Living Tree" would have been good for Casino Royale (2006) and "No Good About Goodbye" would have fit perfectly for Quantum of Solace (2008).
If Shirley Bassey is unavailable, how about Tom Jones? How long can his breath inhale and exhale these days? :x

Posted this accidentally in the Quantum of Solace thread when I meant to post it here.

My vote is for these folks, especially since the singer captures Shirley Bassey's style: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg2dXY9TOKA.

The lyrics are occasionally tinny but this has the Bond vibe I want. I can listen to this song for hours and hours.

exactly. someone like her would be fantastic...i just think the richness and the passion of a soul singer's voice lends well to the bond image

They already do that on some of the James Bond 007 video games. Tina Turner is known for the theme song to GoldenEye (1995), but they had a different black person sing it on the video game.

I stumbled across this as I was doing a new search for Bond 23 and who was singing the theme...

Not sure if anyone has seen this... Property of a Lady

Now, I don't particularly like the song... or the lyrics... however it is interesting. Anyone else saw this?
