I understand that they are jeans; I own a pair of J Crew jeans in both white and a darker khaki color. They fit the part IMO, and have a fantastic fit to boot.
I have not tried the J Crew 484 jeans, but I have a pair of the urban slim fit jeans, and their fit is very close to that of the QOS Levis ( I have two pairs).
As for the 501s, I know them to be good jeans, and if they are your preference, go for them. However, for those who are looking for a fit similar to the 306 sta-prest, the 501s are nowhere close. They are an absolute straight-fit, with no taper at all.
The 511s and 510s are closer, and both have trouser versions. Also, while I have yet to try them, Levis also has a taper fit, the 520, and a slim taper, the 508. I imagine one of those is the closest we will get to the 306 in the US, unless they release the 306 here, which is extremely doubtful.
I think the J. Crew Vintage Slim is a better fit. The 484 fit is nearly skinny, and unless you have a very slim build, it won't seem quite right. For a regular or muscular build, you will likely fill out the Vintage Slim fit more like Craig.
Here are the new Levis' 508 jeans (that actually feel like chinos) in British Khaki: (sized down to 31 instead of 32)
They taper beautifully towards the bottom, but I would hem them, still, as I have short legs. Still a little room in the waist, but sizing down to 30 was WAY too skinny throughout the legs. Wish I had my brown suede chukka boots to wear with them.
They retail for $68, and are similar to the Banana Republic pants I have in color, just a little lighter (closer to the Sta-Prest's Sand Pit color, but not quite) so I don't think I'll be buying these, though there's a nice grey color I may check out.
Nice Jz. I was just about to post about the 508's today. They are my new favorite Levis. They fit great, the taper from the knee down is awesome. Close to the fit alot of designer jeans have.
Sizing down on the waist is what I did as well, because they really are relaxed through the waist and seat. I'm gonna try to snatch up most the 508 colors they have. Love'em.
508's!
Edit-
Price Check: The Levi's 508's are $45-$48 on Amazon with nearly every size and color available.
The gray trousers might be worth getting for a similar outfit to this one. I just got rid of my poorly-fit black leather jacket, but would much rather have one like this:
Also, just received my Levis 517 Sta-Prest jeans with the boot cut. The color in my previous post looked almost like the silver birch, but the pant is like a lighter sand pit color. Beige is an accurate description, and the pictures in the link below are more accurate to what I've received:
For some reason, the other photos did not send to my account for uploading, but the hem and taper turned out great! They are a beige/tan color, and I wish I weren't in a yellow bathroom when I took the photo, because it takes away from the slight gold hue to the pants, and makes them look Silver Birch-esque, like the ebay ad does.
I've tried them on, but don't have them. Ive already met my jeans quota for the year, and I honestly don't have a big need for this color. I don't see myself wearing them enough to justify the purchase.
There are many similar companies
Only problem is they get an American credit card only
They do not have PayPal
Someone who lives in the U.S. can help?
I'll send him the silver that PayPal?

Received 2 Sunspel jersey polos as a recent gift, and will definitely wear (navy blue and black) them with the Levi's.
Also, the 7 jeans are on sale for $109 currently.

Great pants, though, and Sta-Prest!
