Would a pre 007 movie work?

James Bond in his Navy days, the man before becoming 007. The movie can explore more into his history. His adventurous missions in SBS special operations leading to M16.

Perhaps just a stand alone film?

That wouldn't work. What could work is a series of novels about Bond during WWII, a bit like the Young Bond series.

Wait till Craig turns 50 then he could play Bond the 17 year old navy rookie.

Use a digitally rendered 60's era Sean Connery to play him/

If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
I'ld been married long time ago
Where did you come from where did you go
Where did you come from Cotton-Eye Joe
    If it hadn't been...

    If it hadn't been...
    If it hadn't been...

He came to town like a midwinter storm
He rode through the fields so hansome and strong
His eyes was his tools and his smile was his gun
But all he had come for was having some fun

    If it hadn't been...
    If it hadn't been...

He brought disaster wherever he went
The hearts of the girls was to hell broken sent
They all ran away so nobody would know
and left only men cause of Cotton-Eye Joe

    If it hadn't been...
    If it had't been...

    If it hadn't been...
    If it hadn't been...

    If it hadn't been...

I'm not sure how it would work. I just re-read Casino Royale and he really is just a novice throughout. He refers to two killings, but they are hardly spectacular, and he recalls his war as a lucky one. He certainly wasn't anywhere where killing was done, and nor does it elude that there were more than his two kills which counted for his OO status in SIS/MI6. I think if we saw Fleming's Bond's war years we would see martinis, girls and late nights at cards, with paper shuffling and plans for eleborate plans and raids, of which he would not be part of - just like Fleming's war years.

Please no, spare us the re-boot of the re-boot. I would love to see some of Charlie Higson's young Bond filmed. Could even be animated if done well enough.

I wouldn't consider it a "reboot" or a prequel only a stand alone, just one film . At least to see the process of becoming an M16 agent.
