But that is another discussion. I don't think Ebert is as great as he is legendary. He can be off sometimes.
I thought it was Gene Siskel who thought Brosnan would've been better whereas Ebert praised Dalton.

If you watch this video montage, eventually you'll see Gene Siskel totally dismissing Timothy Dalton while praising Pierce Brosnan simultaneously. But what you don't see in this montage is Siskel doing a complete 180 and throwing Brosnan under the bus during his GoldenEye review. I guess Siskel just liked Sean Connery so much that he couldn't get over the fact that it would be several more years before they could finally get an actor who was even remotely worthy enough to be mentioned in the same breath as Connery....This of course, wouldn't happen in Gene Siskel's lifetime however, because of the seven year gap between Siskel's tragic death in February 1999 and the release of Casino Royale in November 2006.
I don't necessarily think that Gene Siskel was wrong but I do somewhat detest the guy for being inconsistent, and I wonder why Roger Ebert never brought up Siskel's inconsistency during the GoldenEye review.
For instance I watched a Youtube clip of of Siskel and Ebert from 1995 where they praised Jean Claude Van Damme's film Sudden Death which to many action film fans was just a Die Hard ripoff set at a hockey game.
8-)

I wasn't talking about Ebert though. I was talking about Siskel.....Although I guess I shouldn't speak ill of the dead.
