What does MoneyPenny really do to help James?

Hi all,

I'm trying to list in which way Moneypenny contributes in helping James to succeed in his mission.
The wole purpose is to show that even a hero needs a secretary ;)

I'm wondering if you can help me more as what I've been collecting so far?
Anything you can add would be great !

Much thanks for your help!

Cheers!

Right now I have listed only these tasks:

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service"
MoneyPenny plays the mediator between M and Bond.

"Thunderball"

She recognizes that the poker with a red square with a spike through it is a tong sign: The Red Dragon from Macao.

“Diamonds Are Forever”
She has arrange for bond to have a new passport to his trip to Holland.
Moneypenny: "Mr. Franks, your passport is quite in order...."

“The Living Daylights“
MoneyPenny informs that the sniper turns out to be Kara Milovy

"You Only Live Twice"
Do you agree that she has contribute in setting-up a password as in she says "we tried to think" ? see as below dialogue:

M: Moneypenny, give 007 the password we've fixed up with SIS.

Moneypenny: We tried to think of something you wouldn't forget.

Bond: And that is?

Moneypenny: 'I love you.' Please repeat it to make sure you've got it.

Bond: Don't worry. I've got it.

Interesting, but I always got the feeling in Thunderball and TLD that she was conveying information, not that she herself discovered these things.

Thanks your view is interesting, but reading the transcript I wonder why Bond would request that she checks the information if she had not discovered this information herself ?

"A poker, in the hands of a widow.
I'm surprised. I'd have thought you were just the type for a widow.
Oh, not this one. He didn't like me at all.
A red square with a spike through it.
Yes, I think it's a tong sign. The Red Dragon from Macao.
    - Ask Records to verify it.
    - Sorry, sweetie. You're offduty.
-File it till you get back."

I suppose it's worth pointing out, as someone else has done in the last 24 hours, that Moneypenny is not actually Bond's secretary, she is M's. In the book Bond's sec is Loeila Posonby (check sp!) and then Mary Goodnight. And others say that she's not a secretary but a PA ie personal assistant; actress Samantha Bond was insistent on this point, albeit probably jokily.

I agree that there's a sense that Moneypenny merely conveys information, helps cover up for Bond's indiscretions in the workplace, ie more about personal relations, In Live and Let Die she hides from her boss M that a missing Italian agent is lurking in Bond's closet, when they pay his flat a visit.

Ok Napoleon Plural and Hardyboy, I'll take as a final answer that she only conveys information.
And I agree she works for M (as Bond )
As for the job title I suppose it is a joke :
I've been myself a bilingual PA (job title on payslip) for 10 years and everyone in the office calls me "secretary" :))

Question: Going back to my initial question, does anyone would be so kind as to let me know if MoneyPenny has been a great help in a movie (else than the above list) ? ?:)

I think her sole purpose is to flirt with oo7. Their relationship is not supposed to go beyond that. As far as the films are concerned "Moneypenny's" contribution is "comic relief".

Her greatest contribution is probably OHMSS where she intervenes to turn his resignation request into a request for leave, thus keeping him in the service.
