My Dear AJB Friends,
On 26 June, following 2 1/2 years of work, the OHMSSDBS rolled up on the reviewing ramp to a thunderous applause from the record crowd to collect the lovely Tiffany crystal plate that read:
FIRST PRIZE!!
Tears came to my eyes as I remembered all of the friends who had brought me to this point: our painters, powder coaters, engine specialists, fabricators, and especially our Quartermaster, ScaramangasGoldenGun, whos AR-7 drew huge crowds around the car all day.
I opened the glovebox, took out the sniper scope, and scanned the crowd (another ovation), to find my lovely and patient girlfriend, Amanda, with tears rolling down her sunburned cheeks... Truly my Lazenby moment, and truly a triumph for all our AJB bretheren!
I cannot tell you how many people approached our team all day with well wishes and kind words about our cars. The neighbouring Ferraris drew less than half of the crowd that our car did, and even the 275 owners, with cars worth $1.5M, still gawked at the "Bond Car!"
I would like to share this victory with all of my fellow AJB bretheren, and thank you for your kind help and advice over the years, on this project.
So! it is on the "The Quail" on 19 August, and I am thinking of doing up the car with the flowers...
Enjoy the prelim photos, more on the way...

Superb job -{
I'm jealous ;%
After two days off for good behaviour, it is back to work sorting out various things from our shakedown cruise- you see, to go to the concours was the longest (45min) drive that the car has been on! We only just completed fitting the number plates and polishing at midnight the night before!
Possible GL reunion with the car, others are working on that event, but I will keep you posted.
Looking at the flowers livery, possibly for the next event in August.
Got to fix and exhaust leak, and fiddle with carburettors now...
Thank you again for all the kind words and support!

I just can't help but wonder though.... you mentioned your 'girlfriend' Amanda, but if she ever became your wife would you be brave enough to drive off to your honeymoon in the DBS?
We live in the San Francisco area, and that bridge in Portugal is very similar to the Golden Gate Bridge. Amanda and I have often talked about wedding bells, and in a couple of years I hope we can pull off a 007 wedding. She loves Tracy's wedding gown, and indulges my Bond fantasies, including having a Bond themed wedding.
You know, she has been so patient this past year, especially, as I have virtually lived at the shop, working on the car in the last 2 months every single afternoon, well into the night.
She brought food down to the crew, and didn't scold me for coming in at 2AM, only to get up for work the following day and disappear again.
I am taking a well needed 2 week leave of the project, but soon must start preparing the car for the upcoming Quail Concours at Monterey Pebble Beach!
Thank you for the kind words,
Tom
