Just a heads-up for anybody who might be seeing this film...it appears that my little brother, Another Loeffelholz (aka Michael Loeffelholz) has survived the cutting room floor!
IMDB lists him as being in the mid-30s 'in order of appearance'...so he ought to turn up fairly early in the film.
He spent about eight hours on the set last year, doing improv scenes with Shia LeBoeuf where my brother plays an executive with whom LeBoeuf interviews in hopes of getting a job. Mike is listed in the credits as "Executive Interviewer."

I'm going to see it in about an hour...all 154 minutes of it...but if I see Mike's mug on the screen, it'll all be worth it He's got some great stories about Bay on the set---says he's super nice to his actors, but curses at his crew like he's got Tourette's ) Says Shia's a nice kid...

B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-)
He shows up about a half-hour into the film when Shia LeBeouf attends a montage of job interviews. My brother's two primary lines: "Weren't the FBI looking for you??"...and "Well, around here we're mostly Republicans" when Shia tells him that he was given a medal by President Obama ) ) ) )
I'm very proud of you, Mo-man -{

You are incorrigible ) ...and don't 'assume' :v
My brother was extremely nervous that day...spent hours waiting around. Michael Bay was doing a bunch of shooting outside, and told my brother: "As long as we've got sunlight, we'll be able to shoot this scene." My brother watched the sun set...and says that he saw the sun setting on his career... )
Ultimately they brought in lights to simulate sunlight, and got it shot. No script at all---just lines improvised by my brother, Bay and LeBeouf...so in a sense, my brother wrote his own material B-) Brought him up right...

That said, school strike today in the UK so loads of kids are getting in to see it early.

Well, it's Michael Bay isn't it? I just haven't gotten around to a review of the film itself---rather focus on my brother being in it Suffice it to say that in a franchise that's been big, loud and silly...this one's the biggest, loudest and silliest...easy fodder for Kermode, natch )

They did---loved the movie, too! It's nice to hear his last line get a laugh in a crowded movie house.

As to the film itself, it's Michael Bay so you can't expect high drama or tight storytelling, but you do get lots of striking imagery, eye candy and general hardware porn. I'll post more extensive thoughts in the Last Film Seen thread but suffice it to say I had a lot of fun and am looking foward to seeing it on my home 3D rig in a few months.
Thank you all so much for the support! {[]
It really means a lot to me.
Now....if I could just get a line in a Bond picture.... B-)
Me: "...Freshen that up for you Mr. Bond ?" ) :007) -{
It's a great romp of a film...the 3D looks spectacular...just buy the popcorn and enjoy -{
Another Loeffelholz was good too....easily the best of the potential employees...good luck in the future -{

It really does, in my opinion. Saw it first in 2D...and the second time in 3D. I think this is a case where a film is improved by it. Of course, this one was actually SHOT in 3D, with James Cameron's cameras, rather than retro-fitted for the effect, and the depth of field difference is appreciable. It's like the difference between Avatar and Clash of the Titans.
It's still Michael Bay, mind B-)

It's awesome stuff.It is the first 3D film where I really got into it, with Avatar I sort of did but it seemed a bit hard work. I did have a central seat, maybe that helps. H24 if that helps.
It starts off with a bit of alternative history, not unlike the opening credits of Watchman. To be honest, with all the CGI you think they could rustle up a convincing Kennedy and Nixon likeness. Maybe that's deliberate, to not fool a dumb generation that the reason for the moon landing was what they said it was.
The opening shot of the babe is enough to make one hanker for the onset of 3D porn.... Mind you, for a lot of you, seeing a real woman naked would be about the same effect... )
Another Loeffs was fine, like a real actor. At no point did I think, ah, that's Another Loeffs trying to be an actor. That said, I'm not sure Bay's forte is comedy. He wants it to be there, he wants to be liked and for the audience to laugh, but I don't think he's got funny bones really, it holds up the mayhem.
Brilliant stuff with the crashing skyscrapers, wow. I could have done without the 9/11 reference with 'Let's roll' however. And the gal in this is just another Bay special effect. I'm not sure she's a bad actress, that's just the way she is, no real personality. Like the daughter in Face/Off.
Generally I liked it a lot and def see it in 3D. One thing, it really is hard to see how Bond can compete in the awesome stakes here. Some will say he shouldn't, but I do remember a time back at the Moore zenith when that was part of the equation. the sheer spectacle.
