  It's possible that she didn't recognise it as the underwater car until after the plunge into the sea. Remembering a mission you were on two (?) years ago is a bit harder I'd think with a machine gun-equipped chopper on your tail....

  I think for movie goers it would of looked odd if she didn't look suprised as the car crashed in to the water, Also knowing how well built some Brirish cars where at the time , She was probably worried she'd drown. )

  It's obvious, isn't it? 8-) Anya got hold of the plans some months ago, but the blueprints were so far-fetched and ludicrous, the KGB dismissed them as propaganda to undermine Russian morale. However, once the Lotus indeed started wizzing around underwater, she took on board the information and utilised it.

  Although my surprise equals yours, my father's doesn't. The way my father watched this film, he always came away with the impression she'd been surprised because the same system had been designed and/or tested for a different car, especially being that the car is a 1976 Lotus Esprit. I realize the film was released in July of 1977, but the car was put into production pretty late considering its model year (in the middle of 1976, I believe?). Even the first working cars were exhibited to the public in late 1975.

  By the way, are you gonna eat that?
