Nice camera and a great addition to any OHMSS prop collection.

These were the quintessential Cold War spy cameras. There are several stories relating to these cameras. One Soviet agent hid his by wrapping it in two prophylactics and attached a long length of string to it with a metal washer tied to the other end of the string. His office was equipped with a suspended ceiling so he would clime on his desk, raise one of the panels next to the wall, then lower the camera down the inside of the wall until it hit bottom. He'd then drop the rest of the string down inside the wall as too. To retrieve the camera he use a magnet and some additional string he kept unobtrusively in his desk.

Another event involved the smuggling of some Minox film through customs. The film containers have two cylinders connected together and the film winds from one to the other as the film is used. Once the film is completely used up one of the cylinders can be broken off leaving only one very small cylinder that needs to be transported. This spy took some popular chocolate bars and made a cast of them. He then melted down the chocolate, placed the film canister in one of the depressions and poured the melted chocolate into the mold. After it had hardened he carefully re-wrapped the bar to look like it was unopened. The story goes as he was passing through the customs check point he was advised he could only have two bars, he had three, He pulled out one and ate it right on the spot, luckily not picking the one containing the film. He was then allowed to pass through and made it to safety with the film.

Another interesting thing about the old Minox cameras. The strap which was attached to them was a measuring device. It's length was exactly the distance you needed to hold the camera from a document when photographing it. Seems like Minox knew exactly what these cameras were being used for. :)

As stated, Bond used one in OMHSS and I always wanted one. When one including the flash attachment, documentation, original container and film came available on eBay I jumped on it.
