Most book like bond

I have always thought of the book bond as a character unto himself, but if I had to pick an actor that most reminds me of the book bond I would say, believe it or not, George Lazenby. I am watching OHMSS as I post and I am reading one of the Bond books so the two are pretty interwoven with me right now, but the scene with Bond and Tracy in the hotel room where she points the gun at him and she goes " You are very sure of yourself " I just envision the fictional Bond. There is also a very paternal relationship between Lazenby's Bond and M, which is also very present in the books. I know alot of people think Dalton was the most book like, but I am not one of them. As much as I am a fan of Connery, I NEVER picture him when I read a bond novel. In the movie FRWL Connery talks about a night on the town with M like they are more equal/drinking buddies than paternal in nature. I would like to get some others thoughts on the subject

    I do agree that M was a father figure to Bond, Later Q became the father figure in the Brosnan Movies. One of the problems with a Female M with no other Older male around is the Dynamic has changed, Hence at times M seems like an old mother Hen looking after him.
    Lazenby was the right age for Bond and moved very well, light on his feet like Connery and Looked IMNO like what a young naval officer should.
    On reading the Books though I don't really picture any of the actors, I imagine the scar and the comma of hair hanging down and thats about it. I would be one of those who might think of Dalton in a couple of scenes but generally it's an almost faceless character.
    It's the same with another literary hero of mine Dirk Pitt, just a general outline of a discription and the rest is up to the readers Imagination.

    Yeah pussy thats how I picture the book bonds as well. He is almost like an outline, unlike some books I read where I can get an exact face to them, with Bond it has always been more like a descriptive presence. In some ways I think that is why Lazenby works so well in OHMSS. He only did the one and the producers were making sure you knew this guy was James Bond, not Sean Connery as Bond, but the character of Bond. By the way how is your ongoing online search for worthy umbrella shops going:))

    The leading ladies are more fun to imagine as Fleming always gives a good discription of them and many times they are nothing like the actress chosen to play the character. Same with the villians, Poor old sir Hugo Drax for example.
    Sadly no luck with my search, Sir Miles refuses to publish my letters so I've moved on. Kagool Conasuer & Rain Mac Monthly is now my Magazine of choice. :))

    I think If Fleming was alive today, he'd go back and re-write all his Books to Portray, Daniel Craig. Such is his Infulence on The Bond Movies, In fact as Someone else mentioned Perhaps Craig could be kept on as an adviser for future films after he leaves. But not too soon of course I hope he does a Roger Moore and stays for at least Seven Movies. Perhaps try and break the record and go for eight ! -{

    No disrespect, but as much as I like Craig in the role, an over-the-hill Bond portrayed by Daniel Craig would only be slightly better than Moore's geriatric Bond. So please, Dan, don't do a "Roger Moore" - keep going only for so long as you appear credible as 007. Then move on and let someone else take over.

    Blackleiter - take no notice of Thunderpussy.... he is trying to make a very oh so not subtle point that there are a few of us on here (3 or 4 perhaps...?? :#) that like Craig. (Thunderpussy is not one of them...)

    He's trying to be sarcastic.... funny to begin with, but now, I think he's just trying to up his post count ;) :p

    I agree. I usually find TP to be pretty amusing, but his oh-so-obvious Craig-envy has become tiresome.

    Belive it or Not, The suggestion for Craig to stay on as an adviser on the bond films was made on CommanderBond. -{
    Come on Lexi, there is quite a few Craig fans on AJB007, I'm very much in the Minority :#
    It's not Sarcasm, I just being Flippant, and posting so much as to have an alibi for the Riots.
    But I do apologize to Blackleiter if he thought I was being serious, Just in a Bitchy mood ;)

    No problem, TP. We might disagree about Craig, but you're still one of my favorite posters!

    P.S. - I'll vouch for you regarding the riots!
