Gilroy Dark Ale in Carte Blanche

It was with great excitement that I saw reference made by Jeffery Deaver, to that of Bond ordering a Gilroy Dark Ale whilst on assignment in Cape Town, South Africa. (Carte Blance pg.218)

The Gilroy Brewery is located in Muldersdrift, a mere 30 minutes drive from Johannesburg. My wife and friends, are frequent visitors to this micro-brewery. Over time, I have had the great fortune to connect with owner and brew-master Steve Gilroy, himself being an avid Bond fan throughout his first cinematic viewing of Dr No.

Through mutual collaberation, we are in a position to begin export of this dark ale, known to the South African market as Serious. The Lager, Favourite and Traditional varieties, are well received by connosiours locally.

Would fellow members be willing to taste what our literary 007 orders?

I may be reached on haviland.millard@gmail.com for comments and questions as to when shipping would commence and price/ tarrifs etc.

Maybe the Gilroy Dark Ale will make an appearance in the next James Bond movie?

Well, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. When I drink beer, I prefer the darker versions because to me they have more flavor. So, sure, why not?

Any idea where I might be able to find a Gilroy Dark Ale in Cape Town?

Is it as good as Old Speckled Hen? :))

Gents, take a mo to visit gilroybeers.co.za to get an overview of the brewery's profile, and to see the owner in all his hairy, splendid glory.

I have never tasted Speckled Hen, however on a lads weekend, we visited Nottingham Road Brewery in the Natal Midlands.

What the lads concured was the ease of drinking a Gilroy without the tell-tale sign of bloating that often accompanies beer/alle consumption, as a result of chemicals/additives used to fast-forward the brewing process.

I respect the honesty to craft, and attention to detail that Steve embraces throughout the process. I don't believe that you will disappointed with the Serious (dark ale) should you order a batch.

To cercumvent a compromised batch (off/ bad), using wisdom, we will ship/ fly in 2 'four-packs' for the some price, brewed/ drawn at staggered dates.

Here's hoping and praying Sam Mendes allows for Bond to indulge in a Gilroy when filming commences in Cape Town, South Africa.

We are able to send Gilroy to Cape Town, and will make use of the Chele' folk, who have the Woolworths contract, bottling their water and soft drinks. Please mail me and I will forward a sample four pack to you at no charge.
