Robert Lynsey

A while ago I posted that the ideal cast for me in a Bond film would be Cavill or Clive Standen as Bond, Honeysuckle Weeks as Money penny,David Haigh as Major Boothroyd [ who by the way looks like a real life former royal marine major who used to train their mountain and arctic warfare cardre] and Robert Lynsey as M.
Well I have just read that Lynsey is to star as the head of Mi5 in a new sky one comedy called Spy so who knows this may be a stepping stone to the role of Sir Miles Messervey.
Lynsey does not just do comedy, check hiim out as Captain Pellow in Hornblower.
Before anyone says anything I'm not having a go at the current actor and actress in the roles.

I remember reading he was the original choice to play Cracker, and he was great in Hornblower. Along with many other serious roles.
" Power to the People !" as citizen Smith would say. :))

I've seen Robert Lyndsey acting in the theatre a few times...no doubt he's a fine actor...I just don't see him as M though...

I think Brendan Gleeson would make a great M

Quite surprised to find Get Some In in his IMDB filmography, as that was a series that I really enjoyed (couldn't stand the later Citizen Smith) where he played free-f Smifff, which always seems to get overlooked whenever I see him on tv or even mention in magazines.

Yeah, not a bad idea at all! Doesn't have the crusty English thing going though.

Perhaps not, but he does have the sort of presence that would make him believable as someone Bond looks up to and respects. He is a bit rough around the edges though; an unrefined M for and unrefined Bond :)
