Tom Ford Sunglasses

I just watched Quantum of Solace for the first time in awhile and realized I really like his sunglasses! After researching a bit, I know the situation that they are discontinued, expensive, etc. I found some gold ones on ebay and am thinking of purchasing them. Does anyone here have the gold version? If so, how are they? I am also debating on waiting and trying to find some of the original blue ones cause they look really cool.

Ive had the gold and the ones Bond wears (model 19V)

My advice? Get the real deal Oliver People Airman (Craig wore these personally and when TF did the wardrobe for QoS he ripped them off and made his own version for the film)

I have the TFs and the Airman, the TFs are flimsy, light weight and the lens are not great in my opinion. Compared to the Airmans they are like a toy

Another good alternative is the Tom Ford "William" model sunglasses. The original 108's from QoS are out of production, but Tom Ford introduced this model to replace it for his current sunglasses collection. Just looked at the newer version and it appears that they're a size 59 rather than a 57, like the QoS version. Doesn't sound like much of a difference but it's a pretty good bit when worn.

Interesting, I never noticed that and sometimes wished they (TF108) were bigger

Yes - Great alternative! Seen them cheap on the bay, better option then 500 dollar TF108 19V!!

I'm currently wearing the "William" model as my everyday sunglasses here in AF. I'm very satisfied with their performance. Beats the hell out of all the Oakleys that most are wearing out here. Have had several compliments and inquires from folks out here on where to purchase them.

Absolutely agree with you Welshboy.

I had the Tom Ford's and bought the Oliver Peoples as a comparison. The difference was amazing and the OP's fitted so much better that I sold the TF's to a member here a couple of years ago for considerably less than what they're worth now! Oh well, at least it made another member here happy, and that's the main thing.

How similar is the lens color on the William to the 108? The color codes are different, 17V & 19V. I'm debating whether I should spring for the William 207's or wait it out and hope for some 108's on Ebay.

Yup - newer style, I notice sellers on eBay also listing them as the 2012 Skyfall glasses - what a load of rubbish at this moment in time!!

I actually picked up a pair on eBay really cheap yesterday in new condition but missing the case, I'm off travelling South America next month and will use them instead of my QoS ones as I'm bound to scratch them up or leave them at a bar

It's difficult to suggest you can overpay for something if a buyer is happy to part with the amount the seller is charging? I've seen a lot of stuff on eBay I consider overpriced but the items have sold.
