I think one is matt black and the other has a satinised / metal finish (metal colour finish).

Most of my guns are in the matt finish, but I do have a couple in the metal finish also
Do you expect me to talk??

UKARA membership is required to buy any RIF (replica imitiation firearm, i.e a spud gun in black).

It is poor - I'm not a criminal or anything and just want a PPK with a silencer attached for my studio to look at every now and again! Oh well...

i'd go for real guns myself, in all honest, each unto their own n that, but a lot of anti gun lobbyists go for the 'trigger happy gun nutters who love shooting everything' approach, the legal shooters argue back that we're doing it safely, with proper training and on properly inspected ranges etc, and then the BB scirmishing lot turn up in the DTM's carrying their ak's etc.

doesn't really help our argument if you see what I mean.

you can't go blaimeng the bb gun guys for our crazy laws, I should think it is quite good fun.
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
oh i don't blame them for the daft laws, thats tony bliar's fault.

i just think the image could do with some tweeking. its them vids you see on youtube, guy with shades on, looking mean with a gun in his hand, heavy rock music, grrrrr YEAH MO-FO!!

its that kinda thing that the unknowledgable public see and take as true representation of the whole shooting community.

i mean, whats the point in trying to look mean with a f@*king pea shooter anyways?

    007......

In which case, get a 4.5mm airgun (not airsoft), no UKARA required.

    Suggest the umarex with silencer!

Careful, some have crappy white grips......

PS, has full blowback slide action, far better than the airsoft as its metal slide too.

    LOL, thats a faggy fail......

You can no longer buy any of this stuff mail order, so you will have to get on the blower to gun shops in your local area. Umarex is a very popular make, so most shops should stock or be able to order them in. I have a PPK/s but without the silencer.

PS, i dont think that silencer comes off easily.

There was a company called something like "007 Q Branch" making replacement threaded barrels for the standard PPK/s with threaded silencers, about £70 from memory.

I was looking into this UKARA stuff a bit more and found this on Yahoo answers...

"...UKARA membership IS NOT a legal requirement, and it is perfectly legal for an individual or store to sell an RIF to someone who isn't registered, provided they have satisfied themselves that they are eligible to use the skirmisher defence (ie that they are a member of their local site)..."

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080916233603AAfgXXi

If this is accurate I could buy whatever from somewhere abroad like redwolfairsoft.com right? I just want to get a PPK legally without having to go airsofting.

    i wouldn't rely on yahoo answers, wikipedia or any other 'advice' from the net, other than this;

contact your local police force firearms department, as if you're breaking any laws its them who will be paying you a visit, best get aquainted now before the cuffs come out. :#

really mate i can't stress it enough. if in doubt, find out.

or alternatively, contact a local gun dealer who'll set you straight. the guy i go to actually helped write the copper's guidelines on how they conduct their business, so i know i can trust him. he's also very approachable and helpful and has time for anyone wanting to talk sense and business. just don't suggest working golden guns. :v

I did a search for this and found it to be very budget friendly. It's ok I suppose but no where near the realism of the maruzen.

Over here in the UK, the maruzen is like hens teeth, plus with it classed as airsoft, it also can't be bought by anyone not UKARA (United Kingdom Arsehole Ripoff Association) registered.

So what's up for offer then for us ppk/s mad bond fans?

Well there's the aforementioned cheap crap which is ok for display.

Then there's the maruzen ppk/s which is more realistic

The marushin ppks is good looks wise but from what I'm told, highly naughty in the UK.

Next there's blank firers, good luck

Moving up the scale, the more powerful 4.5mm steel BB Umerex PPK/s - ok for looks but the safety is a dummy (the real safety is in front of the right side grip) and the grip is actually longer than a real ppk/s' in order to accommodate the co2 cartridge.

Next up you could go for a deact, but UK prices are around £500.

After that, it's the real deal time, strictly not in the UK though.

    Hope this helps

    MG -{

Ps, I'm going for the umerex and a hacksaw....

Yes, Marushin is very nice - but sadly not for UK import
The grip is not unusally fat as it don't have to house the CO2 like the Maruzen
