    Timothy Dalton is my least favourite Bond. I appreciate what he brought to the role, trying to give a more "grounded" performance and bringing Bond back to Fleming, but he flippantly tossed away any sense of humour; Terence Young understood that humour was a major component differentiating the literary Bond and the cinematic Bond. Speaking as a fan of Roger Moore, maybe I don't take Bond seriously enough, but for my money Dalton took Bond far too seriously. Even the dour Daniel Craig can appreciate a good laugh or two.

    The funny thing is Dalton fought to keep the humour in. He had a famous
    Argument with John Glen ( who wanted to cut it all out ) about keeping
    The one liners in. :)) although I'm sure many other things were argued over.

    I didn't care much for Dalton's Bond back in '87-'89, but then I read the books. I respectfully submit that there's plenty of humour in Dalton's Bond, it's just a threshold thing. For example, when Kara hits him with the pillow it's a genuine LOL moment. :))

    Least favorite Bond? Pierce Brosnan for the reasons that Shady Tree and Broadshoulder mentioned. Also unlucky for him that he followed my favorite Bond actor :))

    That's odd. Seems like the few one-liners that Dalton did have were delivered with very little enthusiasm. :p

    Dalton could not match Moore in the one-liner department, but that wasn't what he (and the team) were aiming for.

    Although I generally agree with those who feel humor is Dalton's weakness, he has had his moments. I particularly liked this one too.

    To me, the only time it become too serious is when they are darker in tone than even the Fleming novels. So far, a number of films have come close to the level of seriousness in the Fleming novels, but none have surpassed it.

    Bond is meant to be serious; he is meant to have a cold, cruel, dangerous look about him. That's the way he was written. I think Dalton fits that description down to a T, and his portrayal of Bond was spot-on.
