Not just a matter of the correct Model, BUT also the correct year.
Goldfinger was in 1964 so you’ll want a Gillette Slim Adjustable Razor from 1964.
Gillette’s date code for 1964 is the Letter ‘J’.
Flip the razor over and look for an imprinted letter ‘J’ under the razor guard.
The single-letter date codes are accompanied by a number, which corresponds to the quarter of the year.
Since Bond in the novels used a Hoffritz razor, I always wondered why they fitted him with the Gillette in the movie. I've always put it down to Gillette jumping at the chance for the product placement, and the Hoffritz people passed, figuring people would think it's a Gillette anyway.

I think you'll probably find that while GOLDFINGER was in production, the Book-Bond was using Gillette.
Remember, the noted change from Gillette to Hoffitz - because Fleming-Bond believes Hoffritz to be better now than the Gillette original - only occured in THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN and 007 IN NEW YORK, both published after the production of the GOLDFINGER movie, the lmited, and largely obscure, initial run of 007 in NEW YORK accepted.
Thanks for the info. It explains the Gillette being in the film. What do members
think of the current state of razors? How does the quality of the shave of the old Gillettes and Hoffritz's being discussed here compare to the modern razors and blades now? I've also never personally liked the designs of the modern razors, because of their shape and colors they look like a cross between a Power Ranger, athletic shoes or something out of Star Trek.
The old double edge safety razors are a very close shave, you must go very slow and let the razor do the work, i.e. don't press on the razor or you will be taking chunks out of your face

So 'J - 1' means 1964, January-March.
