Kyosho BMW Z8 James Bond

I would like to know if the BMW Z8 from TWINE in scale 1:12 from Kyosho was originally sold through the BMW dealership or was it sold through the regular shops. Anybody an idea?
I know it is selling now on eBay for lot of different but expensive prices. But I collect only the "Dealer edition" BMW's. So I want to know if I have to spend this money or not.

I'm no expert in this area, but, I think the Dealers only had 1:18th and smaller, these were sold through Danbury Mint in the UK for something like 499GBP .

No this was never a BMW dealership model. Imported into the UK by Comet Miniatures/Amerang @ £300 a pop then Danbury Mint retailed them with free display case and plaque for the same price.

Even though it is not a BMW dealership model, it is well worth having right down to its Calvin Klein Bond shades....Nice touch that!

OK I agree with that. But if I want to buy it now, I know now that it is not to complete my "Dealership"-collection.
It just would be a nice addition to my collection of model cars. :)

Hello from Los Angeles, California! I'm not sure of other countries, but BMW of North America absolutely DID offer the 1:12 scale BMW Z8 from TWINE through BMW dealers. The original BMW part number was 80-43-0-137-891. The reason I know this is because I was working at BMW Seattle in the Parts Department when this model was offered and, being a James Bond fan, had to purchase one. It was ordered through normal BMW channels and was shipped from BMW of North America. It is the Kyosho model complete with sunglasses, but has the BMW part number printed on the box. Strangely, I just pulled mine out of storage to take a look at it. Then I went online to see if had gained in value and came across your post. They also had the smaller 1:18 and a 1:87 that I have too. Hope that helps!

Thanks for you answer. I'm wondering if the BMW part number was printed om the box. Because through a dutch web sites I heard it was not available through BMW. So maybe only through BMW North America. Maybe you can shet some light on it.
