There's probably another thread like this, but I didn't find it so merge it if you must. I'm guessing it belongs here in the off topic. A thread about The Craig's other movies. Discuss whatever you want. Spoilers likely to be posted, so turn back now if thats a problem.
I'll start with some random rambling thoughts:
-Recently I've been watching and rewatching his non notbond work. I didn't know much of Craig before Bond, but I recognized him from Road to Perdition. Good movie and he and his character Connor Rooney are memorable even next to all the legends and supposed stars that surround him. Shame his character disappears for most of the film before an anti climatic ending. It may be how the story was written , but I would've rather seen more screen time for him instead of Jude Law taking over the villain role so quickly.
Craig was a bastard and should've had a final showdown with Hanks. "Because it's all so f#%king hysterical" is a great line and Craig plays a good psycho. But as soon as his character is just getting built up quickly, he's torn down into a weak wormy non threat. Total letdown. Enter Jude Law and the movie never fully recovers for me.
- The Golden Compass wasnt that good and I have trouble seeing the sequel being made. Epic Beard Craig does all he can to help, but the movie falls into the category of 2nd rate fantasy film that gets lost in the genre shuffle.
- Searched and found Craig in Flashbacks of a Fool. Indy film. Weird. Not sure about Craig for this role. And hence the title the flashbacks take over and the Glam rock teen Craig of the past fills in for Charlie Sheen Craig for most of the movie. For the ladies or others too I suppose a short cameo by Newborn Craig.
I need to see Layer Cake, Cowboys Aliens, and rewatch Defiance next.

His role there was very good, but not his haircut
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Worth checking out really, for a few weeks' viewing, is the seminal TV series Our Friends in the North from the mid 1990s which was Craig's big break. It spans three decades, from the 1960s to the 90s and also stars Christopher Ecclestone who went on to be Dr Who and Mark Strong who has been in all sorts, inc the big screen Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr.
Roger Moore 1927-2017
I'll look out for that show. Thanks.
Munich is great (need to rewatch) as is Defiance
Is Cowboys and Aliens worth a trip to cinema? Its only just appeared down here and on this Sunday
No, but Craig's not the problem with that dud. See my review on page 198 of the "Last Film Seen" thread.
You can't blame him--if you got to RottenTomatoes, you'll see a good many of the awful notices (and almost all are awful) say the faults of the movie lie with Sheridan, and there are a couple saying things on the lines of, "What happened to Jim Sheridan?" Of course, Craig-haters will know where to place the blame. . .
Not blaming Craig at all Hardy. I thought he was fine in 'Cowboys & Aliens.' But I do think if he keeps ending up in films that aren't that good then his standing in Hollywood will be affected. Judging by the trailer 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' should deliver the hit he needs.
I do say Craig should hook up with an ensemble a la Wild Geese. An army type movie, that would be good.

Sorry, I completely misread your post Hardy. ;% Thought you were throwing me in with the Craig haters there.
I read that Sheridan is now returning to Ireland to work on smaller projects, which is probably for the best.
No...that film has been beset by all sorts of problems...I think poor test screenings led to some re-shooting too...
Has the film been released anywhere yet ?
The film is due to be released on parole later this year.

Ah, right - D'oh ! ;%
Very very good, so good in fact I'm not sure why they need remaking it however I guess a major studio needs to cash in on it.
I think with the story line it really can't fail unless they really **** it up however I guess it comes down to Craig and whoever plays the lead girl Lisbeth. I have a lot of faith in Fincher and expect it to be even darker (I have not read the book but imagine it is way darker then the original film)
It will be very hard to watch with a different girl cast mind, I thought the girl who played Lisbeth was perfect.
Went and watched Cowboys and Aliens as I'm a huge Harrison Ford fan. It certainly wasn't good and certainly was not the worst I've seen, just sort of felt pointless and lifeless. Harrison was under used and Craig was excellent doing the Clint Eastwood thing but it was a bit mediocre and dull!
Layer Cake- As others said this was entertaining. Very Guy Ritchie like brit crime film, which I dig. These types of films are right in his wheelhouse.
Munich- Pretty good film with Craig mostly stealing the show with his under used supporting character. I was left wanting to know and see more from him just like Road to Perdition.
Even rewatched Defiance since it had been forever since my last viewing. I love WW2 stuff so it's hard not to like it. Craig does well enough in what may be his best major starring role to date.
I totally disagree with you TP - The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo will, I'm sure, be a great hit.
The books are best sellers, with a huge fan base, and it seems that the general feedback from these fans are that the trailer looks just how it should.
The character he is playing is a gruff journalist. He fits the character perfectly - and I really think that this will be one of his hit movies - along with Layer Cake. The trailer is the antithesis of what TGWTDT is all about - and if you haven't read the books, then sorry, but you wouldn't know what the movie should be. The one problem with the current Swedish movies is that if you haven't read the book, then you wouldn't know what was going on - and they changed the major plot ending at the end of TGWTDT - which really annoyed me. I'm hoping the this remake will stick more closely to the story - and people who haven't read the book will be able to join in.
As for Dream house - well I didn't even know it had been released ;% It has been plagued by problems, and I'm not going to try to defend it, as a) I haven't seen it and b) the reports do suggest that it's not a keeper - which is disappointing.
However, when I watched the so called "appalling" Invasion (the remake he was in with Nicole Kidman) I thought it wasn't as bad as everyone was making out. Maybe because the original was a cult classic, it had a lot to live up to, but sometimes I do feel like Craig's movies are much more credit worthy than the press/critics/public think.
But then, as a fan girl I probably would..... )
Couple of observations...
1) it always pays to read the book before criticizing a film - leaves you wide open to the "if you havn't read the book " riposte
2) we call them "groupies" on here lex... 8-)
Craig was certainly an action man in this, and it gives a certain nod, that the casters for "Casino Royale" 2006 made the right choice!
Also I was surpised to see, Iain Glen,( Mr Powell), was also Dr Issacs in the Resident Evil Films, I been collecting recently on Blu-ray. But hes
no match for Mila! Shes such a Hottie ;%

Invasion has one of the least suspenceful endings ever in a Movie ( Just my opinion ) and Craig looks More German with the longer Hair.
Still his fans Love him, and I won't be posting anything about him again as I'm done with it, as a High school teen would say. )
- Cowboys And Aliens.
The idea of the film and film itself aren't that great, but just ok. Rodeo Craig does his best I suppose. I wonder why he was cast in this film to begin with? Maybe it was an attempt by him to stretch out some by playing a cowboy, but I'm surprised the filmmakers went with him for this.
-Dream House
Such a shame this film had potential, then veered off the road and slammed into a ditch. From Daddy Craig to Looney Craig and back again. But as he says at least he met his wife while making this movie, so I guess that makes up for everything else.
-The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Perhaps another diamond in the rough Craigisphere. Good film overall, and Geraldo Craig adds to it. I heard it mentioned that Craig seemed to playing the same character again. He wouldn't be the first actor to receive that criticism. A closer look at the film reveals a reason for him seeming that way at times. But there are also elements of vulnerability , and dare i say comedy, added as the story progresses that give his character more depth.
