There doesn't seem to be much discussion about the long sleeve polo and blue slacks look from the end of Casino Royale. Being Fall I thought it was a good time to discuss slightly warmer attire.

Tis the season for long sleeves and the polos are easy to find for the most part. As are the navy blue pants. But I wanted to get some thoughts on the shoes. Looking at this pic, unless my eyes deceive me which is highly possible, they look like more athletic shoes and not the boots. The laces seem extra long and the soles are thinner. Thoughts?

There are many other threads like it, but this one is mine. Lots of other outfits have their own thread, so why not this getup as well? a central location for easier future reference. I took the fall, so that future generations could prosper.

Let this thread be a lesson kids. Stay in school and do your sit-ups.

Plenty of discussion on these items if you use the search facility.

Wow. What an icy reception. I actually did a search. And nothing came up about this particular subject. Perhaps I'm searching for the wrong keywords. I searched C.r.,Venice, etc. Enlighten me on the proper search terms.
  • 007 and a half007 and a half LondonPosts: 595MI6 Agent
I don't think that the reception was icy. When people ask about things that have been discussed many times and years ago it can become repetitive which is why the search facility is handy.

Maybe you could have said that you'd tried searching, couldn't find any info and needed some guidance :)

I get that. But trust that I'm not an Internet forum rookie. Before I bother to start a thread I try to search first for an existing thread. I know this may be old news to many, some are late to the party. Please excuse my tardiness.

I just typed the word 'Venice' into the search facility under 'Memorabilia, Collecting & Clothing' and found plenty of references to the items you're interested in.

Lol. Did any one of the thread cops even read my post? I moved right past the oft discussed shirt and pants and wanted opinions on the shoes. Tell me I'm crazy and they're the same boots as earlier in the film. Let this thread die an honorable death and let me off with a warning this time officers. :)) I promise to not start anymore threads in your jurisdiction.

    Fellow Budget Bond,

I'll update this with links when I find them, but a good place to get the polo shirt would be Land's End. They seem to have a good middle-of-the-road polo in great colors.

The pants... I'm also open to suggestions. I currently have a pair of Dockers microfiber golf pants in Navy blue that I will try out when I get the polo and see what you all think.

The shoes... I have a pair of Skechers casual shoes here: http://www.zappos.com/skechers-browser-black

They are a versatile casual shoe. Nothing special. Good for the budget-minded Bond.

Read my posts and you will also notice that I didn't mention any particular part of the outfit.

But to pander to your ego I'll tell you they're Nike Air Articulate trainers.

I'm bored of this thread now.

I suggest people use the search facility and not get shirty with other members when they can't be bothered to use their own common sense and initiative.

People have tried helping and you persist in being stroppy.

This info is about 5 years old now :)) and isn't difficult to locate :s

Hey no hard feelings. It's difficult to display emotion through text. I thought we were giving and taking the piss. It's all good in the hood. The Internet is not serious business.

    - Ok got the laptop going and some of the links are now working. Richmenstoys thanks alot, if I could've seen your link on my iphone this would've been a smoother thread.

Bondtoys no dice on your links still, but alas I have seen the light regardless.

007andaHalf I now know about the Nike's that I never realized were associated with Venice until today. Should've known better.

Still believe this thread has some merit for budget consolidation purposes.

Well if looking for a strictly all grey shoe option, here's one:

    Adidas Gazelle http://resources.shopstyle.com/sim/d2/d2/d2d203037611cc9a985bebd9eae744be/adidas-amazoncom-athletic-shoes-originals-mens-gazelle-2-suede-sneaker.jpg

Shape/design are off, but the color is nice and uniform.

hey any looking for the blue trousers should go to GAP website, "The tailored houndstooth pant (straight fit)" is very similar or even the classic kaki in blue or for a more up to date or younger look the slim vintage kaki in blue. they are all close and a t a fraction of the price of the ted bakers i am sure!

jz007 i have a similar pair in a greyish blue color because in some pics the shoes look grey and in others they look black idk what color to pick
  • jz007jz007 Posts: 362MI6 Agent
I think they are black, but this is a situation where you can use your judgment and go with what you're more comfortable.

I choose black, because I have plenty of black shirts and belts that I can wear with them, and they look fine with jeans and are acceptable (at best) with chinos. I'm all about versatility. I'd rather not have exactly the right outfit, but have something that I can wear, and wear with more than one outfit... one of the reasons my casual shirts (polos and v-necks) are all solid colors.

Very true, that's the way I go about things as well. Not to mention all the options that open up when sticking to a more common shoe color like black. Most shoes come in black.

I doubt I would pair them with pants like these. There's slightly dressier casual shoes that would flow better IMO.

Friendly heads up once again on the shirt and pants. Found some great deals yesterday at JCPenneys. And only some bad size luck kept me from pulling the trigger myself. If you can get to one it's worth a look as the prices are usually even better locally. Sometimes along with "2 or 3 for" deals.

These are the cheapest navy chinos I've seen lately. Very comfortable pants that have that smooth cotton used/lived-in feel. The Navy was Dark and black-like in certain lighting. Made me do a double take in the more dimly lit fitting room. Listed at $19.99 they were even cheaper in store at $17.99

This sueded long sleeve polo felt like butter, and if they had my size in the right color I would've snatched it up quick. Not sure if the right color is even shown on the product page swatch list, so be careful. None are even close to Venice shade of blue I spyed in store. $11.99 or 2 for $11
