What do you like about the James Bond Ultimate Edition DVD set. Talk about any Volume. Can you recommend that someone buy the collection? Do the movies include additional footage? Are they the United Kingdom version?

Are you asking because you want to know or because you just want others peoples opinions ?
I have it and at the moment you can pick it up for about £50 from HMV. However it's not really full of extras which is unfortunate. Otherwise a really good buy and a bit of a bargain I'll think you'll agree...
I am mostly interested in the "Licence To Kill" movie in the Ultimate Edition. There were 2 scenes that had to be cut out. I believe it was some of the shark scene that was too graphic and the scene of Anthony Zerbe's head blowing up. You will notice the quick cut they made on that followed by the sound effect.
Just wanted to know if those deleted clips are in the United Kingdom version or if they are seen as deleted scenes on the DVD.
The two scenes you mention (the shark scene and Trueman-Lodges exploding head) are in the United Kingdom versions of LTK. There are no deleted scenes type extras on the DVD's unfortunately which IMO is a bit of a disappointment. Otherwise as I've already said, the Ultimate Edition DVDs are an excellent investment!

Thank you Smiert-Spionam. I appreciate your reply and telling me about Licence To Kill. Now I know for sure I will be buying this Ultimate Edition Volume at some point. :007)

But for 2012/2013, it appears as though there will be a new catalog reissuing of the entire series on Blu-ray.
In my opinion the UEs are a mixed bag. The Lowry restoration was good in some aspects but they always have a tendency to remove too much in their process. The films were also tinkered with in picture and sound and do not always resemble their theatrical counterparts. The R2 editions lack original audio and have some errors that were corrected for the R1 editions.
The colors are off on most of the films, some have cropping issues, some lack original audio, the 5.1 remixes are too overdone in cases, and some titles have Edge Enhancement and other DVD manipulation.
Some of the released Blu-rays have quietly readdressed some of these problems. For example, Live and Let Die has had the contrast fixed whereas Thunderball still has color problems despite some new tinkering.
It's still a great set because of the theatrical aspect ratios and extras.
I'm just too used to the versions I grew up with that accurately reflect the old Technicolor look. So I started collecting the Laserdiscs. But I'm an analog junkie anyway.
