The X Factor

Anyone watch any versions of this show? I don't like singing competitions, especially American Idol, but the UK version of the X Factor reeled me in and I have caught some of the US version.

The American Version seem to of found some good singers, The British version has found nothing but the next Batch of reality TV Stars? :#

I think I like the atmosphere of the UK version more over the years, though it is true many seem to be picked for entertainment purposes other than a couple of great ones this time. Lots of spectacle in some regards. The US version is decent, but it feels a little more casual. Still has way more heart than all the competition shows I have avoided all these years though.

This girl is the US favorite to win from what I gather, she has a great sound for 14:

Both my daughters love the X Factor, I don't watch much but listen to it as I mess about on the computer and this is the first year I can honestly say I don't think there's a Decent singer in the bunch, they seem to be looking for another "Jedward" or "Wagner", and the fall in the viewing figures might scare them enough to go back to a singing competition next Year. :))

I watch it the X-Factor with my son....it is an over long programme at the moment....could be cut by 30 mins at least....anyway....Janet Devlin is the best singer by a mile this year....doesn't mean she will win...but she should....The Risk will make a few bob as well....

The US groups that they arranged are bad, but I think the UK versions group's came out surprisingly well considering the origins. I like Kitty's voice, but she is so into Lady Gaga and is just too nutty. Janet is great, and after Saturday, I think Sophie is pretty great too.

Cowell may get his Murdoch moment, it seems to be common knowledge that the best singer gets booted off in the quarter finals to keep things interesting, though I don't know that's the case. If it is, surely all those votes and the money spent towards it, is a kind of fraud?

Seems like the criticisms of bullying were aired out in a bully fashion on live TV. On air is not the place to make personal comments to throw someone under the bus. Seemed like a cheap tactic whether there was mean behavior back stage or not.

I think Cowell is spreading himself a bit thin and its beginning to show. The quality of his shows is slipping. BGT, Red or Black ( :# ) and now X Factor are all very very mediocre these days. His eye is off the ball.

Not sure whats gone wrong with X Factor. I quite like the new judges, though Louis is coming across a bit tired now, but the styling and production are pretty dire. The same could also be said of the contestants. They are mediocre at best and I cant see one of them being a long term success.

Sorry Sir M, but I find Janet dreary as dishwater and most definately a one trick pony.

Johnny is entertaining but not a 'star'. Love his personality but he's not a winner. Craig, Marcus, Sophie all forgettable.

Think I am just watching out of loyalty these days.

I can see why its losing out to Strictly in the ratings :(

I know what you mean Lady R...but it may just be down to the X-Factor format...she is still the best singer in the competition for me though...

I agree with you there too....Louis seems to pick acts that will annoy and entertain in equal measure....but NONE are good enough to establish a singing career....

I do think The Risk will make a few bob once this is all over though...

Yeah, I agree. One Direction benefitted from a few weeks exposure on X Factor and my 14 yrs old daughter likes The Risk so the odds are quite good for them for longer term sucess. Having said that, she also likes Rythmix so maybe, just maybe, they have a girl group that could have a future ....

( I often use my daughter and her friends as a barometer. When 14 and 15 year old girls decide they like you, they really like you :)) )

Toys with the idea of making a barometer and moistness type joke about Lady Rose's teenage daughter and friends... reluctantly drops the idea....

She has potential. I just think Kelly isn't very imaginative with her songs. She gave Janet a ballard type version of 'Sweet Child o' Mine' and Sophie a ballard type version of 'Living On a Prayer' ... IT WAS ROCK WEEK !!!

Personally I would have given Janet 'Zombie' by The Cranberries. She has a touch of the Dolores O'Riordan in her voice and that would have certainly showed a different side of her ... If she has one .... ;)

My nieces really love One Direction....well, to be EXACT they love Harry from One Direction :))

Rythmix I just don't quite get...I know I'm not in their demographic and they can sing....I'm just not sure they will have any career after X-Factor spits them out....

I think ALL the judges have been pretty poor with their song choices...it's was just so obvious that Frankie would sing 'Rocks'...and he seems to get worse by the week !!

Janet definitely has that traditional 'Celtic' voice - not surprising I know :D - I think Janet may have only one 'side' to her singing voice...but it's a blooming good side and great place to start... :p

I totally agree with Tulisa that Frankie has lost his charm. He is looking more and more like a cocky bad boy with a mediocre voice. I like Janet, though not the styling and crazy hair. Sophie is nice but forgettable.

I real think Kitty has the most "X Factor" of the contestants. She doesn't seem as bad as what we originally thought, and like the judges, I keep wanting to see what's next. She seems like a less bitchy/more crazy Misha B girl on the show. Great voice, just a bit crazy is all.

Really ? She's only on the show for 'crazyness value'.....people just want to see how crazy she will become...her voice is okay but nothing special...

I think she is great when she gets into louder notes and she is less crazy looking at this point, though she is still the crazy girl in the competition. I think Janet is a favorite, but there is a predictability in her. Kitty just seems like a pro in performing, crazy personality and all else included. I would be happiest for Janet to win, but I think Kitty seems like she puts the most work into it as a package.

SIDENOTE: The X Factor US has the worst host possible. He seems like he is a normal guy picked off the street that they thought was handsome. He is so unprofessional and has no charm or humor. Terrible host.

Steve Jones has to be one of the most boring hosts on the planet. Didn't like him in the UK and cant for the life of me think why Cowell picked him !! Dreadful, dreadful choice. Should have kept Cheryle and dumped him .....

As a side note, if I was American I would be so cheesed off that Cowell always fills his panels and shows with UK 'stars' .... Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, Cheryle Cole, Steve Jones .... America has enough of its own talent and stars to fill its panels

It gets mention sometimes about him pushing UK talent too much into the US. I don't mind one or two judges out of four being UK, but I do think the host should be from the US for the US version. Cheryl Cole is missed though. She is a UK star that I would have enjoyed next to Cowell.

I am no fan of Cheryl, but she was really screwed over X factor USA. Having seen her couple of episode, I really couldn't see what the problem was. Personally, I thought she was far more exciting than dreary Nicole.
