    Moet is good if you find the bubbles get up your nose with other Champagnes. I like Veuve Clicquot too, top stuff.

    Is it pronounced moat or mow-ay?

    Mo-aye darling.... never mo-et, crickey that is a hanging offence :))

    Mumm is pretty damn good too.... but you can't beat Tesco Cava for the price... it's on special at the mo, and I'm enjoying a glass as I type -{

    Roederer, La Grande Dame or most Blanc de blanc. I hope you had all Blanc de blanc.

    I don't usually drink at all, but I have tried a lot of champagne.
    My favourite is Bollinger and it has nothing to do with the Bond connection like some friends of mine seem to think.

    It's the only one that goes down easy - maybe that is a bad thing!? :))

    Cheers,

    Oh, it most certainly is not!! Quite the opposite, in fact! :v Moët et Chandon is indeed a French company and based in the Champagne region, but Moët is not a French name - it is Dutch - and therefore does not have a silent 't'. In the French language, even if there were no umlaut to force the 't' out, (Moet), the 't' would still be heard because of the following word 'et'.

    The correct pronunciation, is M'wett.

    Hmm, that's a bit like valay or valette... (valet) some argue either is the superior way for those in the know.

    Problem is, while I'm grateful to Moonie for correcting this, it would be very hard to say M'wett and then not get into a one-upmanship game with someone in real life about the pronunciation.

    If I asked for some M'wett - I'd probably be given a very funny look and told to look down the 'feminine product' isle!!
