Dear All who are lucky enough to have a Golden Gun,
At the risk of sounding extremely cheeky, is there anyone in close proximity to Birmingham / Solihull who has a Golden Gun?
Ideally, I would like to view a Factory Entertainment Model and/or a second generation SD?
I am hoping to find somebody local who wouldn't mind showing me their gun(s), in the hope I could take a couple of photos, and maybe see how parts of it fit / mate together (mainly the connection between the cigarette case and the lighter. The cufflink and pen are pretty obvious!!!
I'm doing fairly well with the sketches and dimensioning for my project, but I'm struggling to get things like the connections right, having never seen or held any replicas or props in the flesh.
Any kind souls living locally who wouldn't mind sparing me 20 minutes or so at your convenience, I would be very very grateful.
Either drop me a line here, or alternatively private message if you're shy!
Cheers all.

Very helpful!!
Shame I dont want an FE.....
Theres nothing wrong with them (not looking to cause offense to any FE owners), but its not what I want.
I want to make something I can be proud of, not buy something i would never be truely happy with.
Were you from Teppo?
No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!!
I know this!!
The original (gimmick) was clips and magnets from what ive been told, but does have similar 'lugs' to the FE.
I cant decide whether to adopt the FE or SD connection principle, but would really like to see one in the flesh before I start making anything.
Hard to decide / debate based on photos.
:-(

But thats correct right? The lugs apparently didnt do much, hence why the gun is pointed upwards in the hai fat office scene, as it was precariously held together?

How helpful.....
All I said was there were person(s) helping me who wished to remain anonymous. I don't think thats unreasonable to honour their request.....
I'm not going to bite the hand that feeds me, either privately or within these forums.
Many people have told me that you (Pete) are the font of all knowledge on all things Golden Gun.
Thus, if there is something I am unsure of, or uncertain of, then I trust your final say. Straight answers are appreciated.
But alas, those with the biggest resource of information on the Golden Gun within these forums, have to date been rather closeted on assisting with information, which is fine. This is one of the reasons I have cut down on my forum posting, as the majority of assistance is by private email. Its not because ive given up or lost interest!
I'm trying to keep 3 camps of people happy here. The ones who are sending me goodies and information on a daily basis privately, the 'neutrals' who seem passively interested, but unfortunately not willing to actively assist.
The final category are the 'doubters'. I can understand the skepticism, I can understand the desire to keep dearly all things that you have worked hard to collect and finance. All I ask is that questions are answered honestly and productively. theres a minefield of contradicting information out there that i'm trying to make sense of, and decisions based on, which isn't so easy for a newbie. I am happy with answered questions if you dont want to pass on parts of your collection / resources / information.
PS, thanks to those who have helped me out, and provided advice on production techniques and materials. I hoping to speak to a machine shop in the next couple of weeks about tooling etc.
Ta Muchly! Please keep the help coming folks.

I have no problem with helping people, and have done so with many on this forum, the GG is special to me though and I would love to have my nephew make me one some day
Noted. You may not care, but they obviously require privacy (i imagine for fear of retribution on here at times!). I respect that. I also respect your assistance and knowledge, so please dont think im trying to be an arsey **** about this.
The only thing that wont be "screen accurate" is that flimsy fooking cufflink.
It isnt a cufflink. Its ****. It might be what was seen on screen, but it wernt what Scaramanga had on his remaining fastened shirt cuff. Everyone knows that.
It may have been "screen accurate" on the gun, but when you can PHYSICALY see the difference in size and proportions of the worn cufflink and trigger cufflink in the scene, I reserve the right to say there is a discrepancy in screen accuracy, as the two arent the same!!
I wear cufflinks.
Cufflinks dont have 1" long threaded bolts coming out of them.
The cufflinks Scaramanga wears are cufflinks. I will be making it with those, more along the lines of the SD ones.
That will be the only difference on the outside of the gun.
How I fit / fudge / fist the rest of the workings into the screen gun dimensions is my problem, but you can work on the basis that the dims will be as per the FE gun, but with an actual usable cufflink, that is cufflink size, and works as a functional cufflink that wont pierce a wrist artery and get blood all over my Seamaster.....
I think to many people, this will make perfect sense. To die hard golden gun fans, if your happy with a toothpick for a trigger, each to their own! LOL.
No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!!
where have you been doing your research again magnets long threads on cufflinks
Like these?
No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!!
Personally, I like the SD ones the best. Its the best compromise between what Scaramanga wheres, and what he uses for his trigger.

Pete.
my point was everyone raves about the accuracy of the FE gun, however, the practicalities of the cufflink down exactly make it useble.
personally I think Mick did a great job with the cufflinks on his homage, as they look great, very similar to the 'worn' cufflinks and have a short enough thread to make the wearable.
ideally, I think they should have a female thread into the main cufflink shaft. This would give them strength and make them even more wearable (I think even a short thread would get on my nerves).

if it was me, id go for SD 2nd gen and mod it.
I always curious where he kept his cufflink when we was wearing his short sleeve blue shirt.......
He should have found a component suitable for 'smart casual' scenarios......
No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!!
Pete, thats about where im at to be honest! Glad we finally concur lover-boy :x
Ive managed to find a high(ish)-res photo of a second gen. At present my only option is to blow the image up and try to scale the dimensions from it.
At least its a part than can easily be re-made if a get some more accurate dimensions or photos (cough cough, beg beg).....
No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!!
Ive been saving EVERY image i come across on the web for the last 6 months.
Every bond website, forum, online shop, ebay..... right click save everything (got a bit carried away, forgot what ive saved and have some stuff twice or thrice now.....)
High res, low res, videos, stills, posters.
It doesnt matter, they all come in handy for reference info, or checking scales / proportions etc.
I must have one of the biggest archives of images plans and gumph now!
Sadly, no gun......
