Question for ALL collectors; Thank you to anyone who answers!

Question for ALL collectors:

On a selling website, do you like to see a SOLD ARCHIVE section, where you see the items that have previously sold on the website, even if similar items are still for sale?

I'm don't mean the likes of Bruce Hershenson's emovieposter, as that is almost entirely an auction website and having a sold archive on there is brilliant; I'm talking about general selling websites such as my MovieMemories.com site and others on the web.

My personal view is that having a sold archive is a good thing, but what does everyone else think?

Thank you,

From the point of view of a specialist buyer then yes an archive section is a good idea. It shows the kind of quality rarities you've missed out on which can be depressing but it would also make someone like myself return to the website in question in the hope the vendor may be able to obtain such items again. You'd be surprised at the number of sites who accept wants lists & never make contact even when they get items on your wants list in hence the return visits. Additionally a surf through the Bondposters.com Bond poster section is a joy no Bond nut should be deprived of so if you haven't done that yet then get off yer ass, do yourself a favour and do it!

Yes, I like seeing sold item sections. Especially for high end items.

Sold items sections always make me sad; they show what I could have bought had I been on the site sooner. However, as a collector it's always good to have reference.

Sold items in an archive section is fine, its nice to see the type of past items that were once sold and it gives the buyer an idea of what you might stock in the future. However, sold items mixed in with items for sale is really irritating I find. Nothing worse than browsing stock for sale only to see the word SOLD next to it. Live and past stock should be separated IMHO and why some web shops don't do this is beyond me.

Only my opinion of course as a buyer...

I concur. Moving archives to an archive location is superb. People want to see sales prices and look at formally available items.

I have gigabytes of collectibles photos and other OO7 items and can assist you with resources.

    Hey guys,

Thank you so much for the response.
I agree with everything that has been said - and I know it is very annoying seeing sold items mixed in with current for sale items. I have been a sinner of this myself :#

Also, thank you for the help that has been offered as well as the very kind words pertaining to my Bondposters.com website - I really do appreciate it.

    Thank you! :D
