Original Ian Callum design sketch of AM Vanquish

Sometime ago in a thread long ago, I promised Silentspy I'd post some photos of the Callum sketches I own.

These were designs for the aston martin prototype that became the Vanquish ( bond fans will know of it as the Vanish :) ) and these originals were purchase from AM direct a few years ago.

I gave one to a friend on his 50th as he owns one, but it's basically the same as this one.

I couldn't find the original thread so reluctantly decided to honor silentspy's PM request by posting in a topic of it's own.

Enjoy.

Thx Pete....this one lives beneath a "movie" light - maybe I'll take a pic....

And as I said, I gave the other one away....

    I have seen some concept drawings from DAD they were of the Vanquish and Jag, it is the kind of thing that makes you turn cold when you first see them -{

I just mean being close enough to touch such beauty, it give me shivers, like the time I first saw the Vanquish 1/12 prototype, it was on a table in a small office boy did it stand out :o

Ha! sadly, its a choice or decision i don't think i'll ever need to worry about making.

don't get me wrong, i wouldn't complain at the chance of owning either, but the likeliness of that happening are about as slim as a nat's ****.

Thanks for the images. It's a beautiful drawing and nice framing. I know I've seen it before I just can't place it. Pretty cool that your friend owns the car too! He could setup a cool garage display with the car and concept drawing.

I hope there is an auction for the Jaguar C-X16 concept drawings. If not, I saved all the high resolution images from the Jaguar site...

I remember being curious why Ferraris and other high end cars didn't have sunroofs. I asked someone at Ferrari once and they didn't know! But with a little research and more chatting to people I found out that the sunroof messes up the car's balance. So, I'm pretty much a coupe and 1 convertible for the summer type.

I remember my first actual encounter with an Aston Martin very clearly back in 1996. There was a DB7 in a high end boutique mall. Not really a mall as the stores are all exclusive. Anyway, they had Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and some other cars I can't remember lined up for the holidays. But then there was the DB7. Its beauty was shocking. I had to sitdown and take it in. It was and still is one of the most beautiful cars ever.

Me too... Though the suv comes in handy too... ;%

If u liked the db7 you must love the DBS... They finally got it right....

I will always have a soft spot for the vanq and miss mine.... That said the gearbox in the early cars was the most evil abomination ever placed into a motor car X-(

It was designed by Ian Callum.... Who designed the aston martin vanquish....

8-) Yeah, always blame the gearbox - not the driver :D

I suggest, that you are better staying with your automatic SUV then ;)

Oh you owned a Vanquish too?! That's amazing. I do love the DBS and the DB9 but the problem I have with Aston Martin is that they are going the Porsche route of basically diluting a strong design. I mentioned it before in another thread. I understand that Aston Martin and Jaguar both were in dire straits and needed to make some compromises. But they probably don't need to do it anymore.

While I love the marque so much I find it hard to knock it, I think you're right...

They are homogenizing the brand with varieties of the same shape ( virage) and out of style one offs like the four door ...

But i still feel there is nothing like an Aston to take the breath away...

    Never gamble with perfection....
