Has anyone identified the Scarf from the rooftop photos that DC is wearing.

Mantis, can you find out from your Tom Ford contacts?

    Thanks

Whether you think it looks cheaper or not, I'm willing to bet it still costs $8,500.
  • Bomber133Bomber133 Posts: 46MI6 Agent
That will be about $8,300 too much then. Shame they haven't gone for an English tailor or at least picked suits that share some English styling cues. The QoS suits did have more of a Savile Row look to them. The one above is more C & A Row. Not impressed no matter what it costs.

Edit: The suit sparked a thought that belonged in a different thread. Apologies!

I find this much more authentic for a tax-paid employee than a US$ 8500,-- TF suit right of the store.

I agree. Looks a bit less like a rich metrosexual on vacation with rich acquaintances :)) and more like a man of functional fashion. I liked the QoS clothes, but I like this less pristinely sleek look a lot.

Thing is, though, this pristine, sleek look is what sets Bond a part. In these pictures, he looks like any government employee/agent that might feature in any Brit (at least) TV show.

Yes, we know its ludicrous for Craig-Bond to be sitting at that bar in the plane in QOS immaculately suited, haired perfect, tie straight, not crease or wrinkle in sight. And considering how casual Craig-Bond looks at other times this is even crazier. Who travels like that these days. He does: James Bond. And that's part of his charm.

Now my belief is that Craig might not be "being Bond" here. But if he is, he looks a bit too ordinary.

Again, I like the clothes, but I certainly get the occasional "Tom Ford did this" feeling, which I can't say has come up when watching any of the other Bond movies (I mean I can't say I thought about the designer side, it usually just hits me as Bond picks some nice stuff even when I know the brand). I can't imagine this Skyfall suit will look as bad on screen either. Perhaps it is too ordinary, but I think it Craig still looks standout in most suits, so I might just be blind here. ;)

I like it as well, I think the awkward pose Craig was photographed in might add to someone disliking it. Anyway, I did contact Magnoli about the suit if anyone was interested, here was his reply: We could replicate this in a 9.5oz wool blend in charcoal with 1/8" stripe (see attachment) for $450, thought I would recommend adding the hand-stitched lapels and detailing for $55 extra as this is really part of the TF look. Let me know if you're interested.

    Kind regards,
    Indy

I think you mean the light brown plaid? Daniel Craig wore a suit with a single vent in Casino Royale, and Connery wore a number of them too (though his tailor Anthony Sinclair favoured double vents). Roger Moore wore single vents on almost all his suits in the first four Saint series. Single vents started to go out of favour with Savile Row tailors in the 1960s and by the 1970s double vents were the standard all around.

Sorry, but there is no light grey suit in GoldenEye. And only the light brown plaid (actually sand and dark blue, but overall has a brown tone) had a single vent. This one here:

To me, this actually looks like a H&M style. Same kind of fit. I think that TF made a mistake. Hopefully that's just one look, however from QoS we can maybe infer that the style will be very constant during the whole movie.

I'm not sure if the shirt is worse than the suit or if it's the other way around. I guess this is good news as we'll get to save some more money and wait for Bond 24...

    EDIT: But I CAN'T WAIT to see the movie though.. Really excited -{

That's a great question, I'm not sure whether I agree or not. But I did love QoS. I thought it was very powerful yet understated. I didn't think for a second he would change his style to this.

Lol - thats funny. Brioni suits were horrible. The style in Casino Royale was average at best. Tom Ford has completely redefined the Bond look and its the Bond has ever looked. Amazing stuff from TF and Louise Frogley. Cracking job. Quantum of Solace clothes looked amazing. Lets hope he can keep it going with Skyfall.
