Good people,

I'm trying to track down the light up screen Ericsson JB988 Gadget phone. Highest price paid for genuine example. Those who know me know this is a genuine request. Thank you.

Additional: I'd also be very interested in one of the promotional phones with the different internal key pad (extra simulated buttons).

Is this some kinda indication that the items listed in the alternative thread aren't as kosha as they might try to appear?

Not at all MG. His is the static flip, I require the light up screen version. Additionally he does not wish to split his group regarding the number plate.

The Ericsson Q phones could be a complete topic by themselves. I have 1st hand knowledge on them as I talked to Nick Finlayson (the REAL Q) in length about them. Of interest was that the guys at the Props Dept and Effects Dept. were under such a time restraint that they had to have an oustide firm do up the phones.

The light up screen one had 2 long wires that were secretly pushed through Brosnan's clothing and then tied into batteries. It did light up and then was CGI'd. There were 2 prong models made up. I owned one of them (since sold)...it had a guide on the back that was pushed up by Bond using his thumb. All mechanical...not battery operated (atleast the one I had wasn't).

Both my phones came from an Ericsson emnployee that obtained a couple for PR after the film BUT in fact they were screen-used. They did end up doing up some PR ones that traveled with Desmond and a couple were auctioned for charity. These are easily shown to be different because of subtle differences on the screen touch pad.

I wish I had all the notes I had taken about them. I thought they were very interesting as they are a KEY Bondian Q prop and always comes up as a fan favorite.

    Cheers.

PS: I know my boy wants the license plate...I just don't want to break my group up on the off-chance they don't sell and they go back into my props collection.

As a side note...kinda sad....we all know Desmond was up in his years an EON gave him a Q Phone to go around on misc. PR events. One of the phones that they gave him was in fact a screen used one....the Ericsson employee PR rep that was traveling with him switched a PR non-screen-used phone for the screen-used HERO phone. It basically looked the same and no one was wiser. X-( I guess it is pretty well known that the Director of TND got pretty frustrated when he worked with Desmond because he was up their in age and took extra time and effort to get the shots done with him. *I liked Llewelyn and had met him on several occasions on the set. He was always warm, gracious with his time and had a few good stories to tell.

sorry to hyjack the thread Bro.
