Hello chaps.... need a little advice / help on this one....

does any one know what the pistol grip is from on the signature gun under the hasselblad camera.
i have looked absolutely everywhere.... joysticks... camera grips..... even crane or digger controls :s :s

with this amazing fountain of knowledge available it would be foolish not ask.

apologies if I have missed this being asked before... 8-)

cheers in advance
Paul

This is a typical camera grip for mid- or large format cameras:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hasselblad-Left-Handed-Pistol-Grip-/260892325876?pt=US_Camera_Straps_Hand_Grips&hash=item3cbe64f7f4

Should be similar to this one.

    hi jimmy

thanks for that, i know the hasselblad grip would fit but two things i have found
    a) all the handle are left handed
    b) on screen the palm area has additional finger curves

    any more thoughts anyone????

    and another one.....

does anyone know the calculator make / model as well :D :D
  • bondpropfanbondpropfan Southern UKPosts: 288MI6 Agent
Nope .... Still none the wiser as the grip is not right.

Hasselblad it is not.. They don't make right hand ones .. Plus it's missing the finger bits..

But the guy in the pic is firing it with his left hand.....?

also looking through his right eye??

Is it just me being picky then, but I thought it shows bond cleary holding it his right hand and later firing from his right.
The grip fits the right hand perfectly..

    But what do I know.....l

Not sure which hand bond uses, as for holding in one hand and looking with the opposite, when shooting you having a dominant eye, which is not always the same as your dominant hand.

    Anyone seen it before?????

Looking at it a bit more, I'd say that the gun is right handed. However, if hassleblad didn't make a right handed grip, then it's more likely to be a custom job or something found at the time it was made. Either case makes it harder to establish the proper shape obviously.

I'd suggest try carving some thing from wood, use polymorph to get it right, then take a mould from it and cast out. I'll look into this and if I spot anything I'll let you know.

As for the guy holding it in the wrong hand, one idea is that in order to compose the page layout better, and to fit it in around other items on the page, it's not unknown for publishers to flip images around.....

    Hang on a minute.

    I'm going nuts or something.

Take a look at the gun in its case and the shot showing bond holding it while q program's the grip.

The grip shot shows its right handed. The gun in the case looks left handed to me.

I cannot remember which hand Timothy used to hold the grip. LTK is not my favourite... :))
But if you look at the camera body you will see, that the image with the guy holding the gun is not flipped. the winder on the film magazine is on the right hand side.

whats the chances the film footage being flipped then? unlikely in my mind.

were there any promo versions made of the sig gun or was it a one off?

my guessing for the film prop is that the grip is a custom made right handed piece, being as its encrusted with LED's etc, i'd say modding an existing item would be to much bother to be worth it.

maybe the pic showing the guy holding it is a promo gun with a left handed grip or somthing?

i'm just throwing ideas about here though guys, so dont take my ideas as gospel.

could be an existing item, take a mould from it and tumble cast a new one?

if it were me, i'd get a left handed one to get an idea of the fitting on the grip and take it from there.

Exactly my thoughts in the end MG...

That's why I've got a hasselblad l/hand on its way.
I still think its going to need a lot of custom fitting.. As I no experience in moulding and producing a new cast, any tips or websites I can visit on how to produce this type of thing??

    Anyone??????
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
i'd do it for ya if i wasn't so budy with other things.....

im not sure where or even if you can find this kind of info cos (not wanting to sound big headed) i've not needed to.

you could try the obvious youtube or googling a few model makers forums. expect to pay about £50 - £100 depending on how you go about it. if its quite a smooth finish you might even get away with making a 2 piece GRP jacket mould to avoid buying expensive silicone.

are you wanting to put in bi-colour LED's too? you might want to research using a PIC board for the effects. ;)

This is a photo I took back in 2002 at the James Bond exhibition in London.

I can send you a hi-res version of this picture if you think it would help.

    Hi
That would be good......... But for one thing, I think this is possibly a fake, or background stunt version.
    The scope mounts all wrong...
The rear stock is wrong, too thin...
The front extendable barrel is not a real monopod but a model..
I wonder if this was just made for the exhibition?? I've been told this happens a lot..
