I wouldn't mind seeing Florence and The Machine do a track, or maybe Lyke Li. She has a beautiful voice, maybe check her song I Follow Rivers.
I really just want the songs to sound like the old ones again; I agree that they will try to make it contemporary but a compromise as Berry Nelson said, would be really good!

I'm not a big radio listener, so new artists on the scene are something I'm a bit slow on the uptake to recognize. After Adele's sweeping at the Grammys though I couldn't help but suddenly show a little interest in what she's had to offer. Come to find out the place where I work plays a couple of songs from her first album. I was very much for the first couple of hits on her second album on the radio. However when her newest single released, "Set Fire to the Rain," it suddenly dawned on me how evocative her voice and passion was. That one itself even sounds like a title to a Bond movie, so I suddenly started searching to see if she actually was in the running to do the music. I saw the November article from The Sun article (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/3851837/Adele-records-new-James-Bond-track.html) and smiled approvingling. I honestly hope it's true.
Personally, I have been waiting a while for the Killers to do a Bond theme. I think they would be great for it, but that being said... Both of CR and QoS had male heavy vocals (yes, QoS had Alisha Keyes but I felt Jack White's vocals were more prominent.) So maybe it's time for a more classic female vocal heavy piece? Lady GaGa could be different, or perhaps Christina Aguilera? Neither are my favorite artists, but I do think they could do something interesting.
I would like something more classy and classic. I`m a fan of Katie Melua, she has so much style. Listen to her song "The Flood", it sounds very Bondian to me.
I just listened to Katie Melua's "the flood." Great song great voice! I can see why you mentioned her. Have you heard the first track on her album called, "I'd love to kill you?" She is very interesting. "hey! oh wont you play...another...somebody killed somebody Bond song..."
Maybe after her big showing at the Grammys, Adele is too expensive for EON just joking of course. Having a performer who is very hot at the moment can mean big bucks $$$$ in soundtrack sales and online downloads...it's a win, win for both. Being an old cranky Bond fan going back to the 60's I'd love to see either Shirley Bassey or even Tom Jones perform the theme for "Skyfall" but the bottom line for me is, no matter who performs the song, it needs to be a really good song, not elevator music or that throwaway junk that stood in for a real song in QOS (I actually like the CR theme).
Adele appears to be the fans favourite to sing the title song for Skyfall. She was voted top pick by 5,000 readers for entertainment website IGN.com. Rockers Muse came second in the poll, followed by Foo Fighters, U2 and Florence + The Machine.

Given it's a reboot, and Craig is very unlike any actor before him in the role. Then the music
should be as Inventive, Something against what has gone before. So if we can't get Keys &
White back then why not,
Jedward
Lady Gaga
Marilyn Manson
Even ask R Moore to sing it, ( he has sung before ) http://youtu.be/_P4mRet4zoY
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Adele is a big noise, but her music is kind of depressing, good but depressing. It's a downer. And really, is she that different to Alison Moyet from the early 1980s? It's just soul is in more short supply these days.
Moonraker 5 suggested Coldplay some years ago, and hearing their latest sound, I wouldn't be averse. They do that big epic scope and slightly vague but important sounding lyrics.

I like Coldplay's style a lot. They like to use a bit of elegant production with some nice references in their lyrics and nice piano and string arrangements.
'Someone Like You' from Adele is terribly depressing lyrically. Can't imagine splitting with a love and then figuring out twenty years later when it is getting too late, after never reaching that happiness again, that it was the greatest love you could have wanted. Then to find out, they are doing great without your lonesome self around.
At this point, there are so many good names being thrown around, I am almost certain I will at least not dislike the artist chosen.

While I do like Adele, and all credit to her success, I have to agree with you. I would be far from upset if she was chosen, but there are others out there I'd prefer...

...these guys being one of them. Mylo Xyloto is a bigger sound than previous; faster and louder. They have a big global fanbase, they can do epic as you point out, and as a bonus they're British.
no matter who's chosen - it will be superior to YNMN
I sincerely hope, that Mickey and Babs contracted Adele before the first rumors broke (around 6 months ago). If they negotiate with her yet, I doubt that they can afford her
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
When I saw the blurb on this poster "All the Action / All the Women / Half the Intelligence" you know which recent Bond film I thought of, don't you.

Adele says she will launch a new song at the end of the year. the new album will come later. Let's think .... what else will be launched at the end of this year? :v
Barbara Broccoli was asked to comment on the rumours regarding Adele, whiile Daniel Craig has a Roger Moore moment.
Broccoli smiles and says, "We haven't picked a song yet or anyone to sing it."
Craig raises an eyebrow and adds, "How about Adele?"
"You know she's wonderful, we love her," Broccoli says. "So, it'll be great if she would do it, but we haven't got any -- we haven't made a decision yet."
And teasingly, Broccoli makes sure to add, "Watch this space."
As London is in the film more than the usual Bond walking into M's office scene, then Adele might be appropriate for it, being a London girl and then there's her Hometown Glory song.
I would LOVE Adele to be asked and produce a huge anthem akin to Shirley B, Tina T etc etc.
However, in recent years the producers have tended to go with an American artist or band, which annoys me!
There are interesting rumours on the net about Adele but we have been here before with Amy Winehouse, remember.
One thing IS certain though....it definitely WON'T be Any Winehouse this time...LOL.
Hi New to this, but bond theme written and heard by Dame shirly bassey will go on u tube shortly, the song got a long way up but apparently wont be used.AS i cant send an email let me have yours and i will send it now . if not look out on the tube for bond theme skyfall 50th aniversary tribute dsb/john barry.all the best, we are trying to campaign for this and want to spread the word.belive me this got to jenny kern and dsb herself. all the best Martin rms music email me martin.kimclarke@ntlworld.com
Well, looking through my eyes, I want a classical song, strong female voice, great orchestration and lyrics I can understand. Looking through the producers eyes, I imagine they want to sell some records (cd's, digital downloads) so they probably want something more contemporary, unfortunately, their last few tries have been horrible. Perhaps, something romantic with some popular singer, along the lines of Nobody Does it Better, would be a compromise.
hi .we are rms music and we sent a track especially written for dsb for the skyfall theme.we acyually got it to her through jenny kern her pa, however it has been rejected due to eon and that they prompt the artist.Dsb liked the track we thought we were on to a winner.we are currently going to place it on u tube as it has little other use than a bond theme for her.we want to spread the word and force eon to listen by popular demand. but let me know what you think ,it will go on u tube as bond theme skyfall 50th aniversary tribute dsb/john barry.if you want to hear now send me an eamail to martin.kimclarke@ntlworld.com.this is not a fake rubbish scam.believe me we have tried to plug this for 2 months and failed.the only option is to now let everyone hear.it was performed by a tribute artist to dsb.thanks martin rms
I cannot think of anyone more appropriate than Dame Shirley Bassey for the 50th anniversary, she is the artist who is most synonymous with Bond title songs. GF is regarded as a classic, DAF is very popular. MR is less popular but I see it as very underrated.
If you are thinking that Dame Shirley may not have "the voice" anymore then click on the link below. You can see her performing GF at the late great John Barry's memorial concert last year.

It's clearly Engelbert Humperdink's turn.
Surley old Engelbert will be too busy after he wins.

Well that's not so perky. Her musical influences are all dead now.
On the bright side, she is alive and kickin' and seems to have a pretty realistic understanding of her own career.
Unfortunately, putting "skyfall" into a lyric sounds a lot like "spy hard":

I always loved the titles and theme to Spyhard. )

Will wait for this to be confirmed first but it would make complete sense.
