Favorite scene's from Goldfinger.

Well it's Thanksgiving and here in the states that can only mean one thing. It's Bond marathon time. Thank you spike TV for creating that tradition. :) :)

With that in mind, it is time to hear your favorite scenes from Goldfinger.

1) I love the whole scene when Bond meets Jill Masterson and catches Goldfinger cheating at cards. Just classic. First he taps into his earpiece ( just priceless ) Then forces him to lose. Of course this all leads to Jill getting covered in gold paint

2) When Bond is on the laser table. first the slow movement of the laser through the gold then one of the greatest lines in the entire franchise ( IMHO ) " Do you expect me to talk " " No Mr Bond, I expect you to die "

3) The fight scene with Odd Job in Fort Knox. Bond Can't out muscle Odd Job so he has to out smart him. The electrocution was classic Bond

Once again Happy Thanksgiving -{

"Ah, there you are old man. I was wondering where you'd got to."

It would be a quiet scene, when Bond is standing, overlooking Goldfinger's Rolls in the Swiss Alps. Camera pans back, and we see Bond is being watched also. I love the quiet, with the sound of the cow bells. Very atmospheric.

Plenty of good scenes, the intro of the Aston Martin is a corker, and Q branch looks its best (it was blink and miss it seen in DAF, then unconvincingly on location in TSWLM and MR but only looked its grimy self again in NSNA ironically).

And "Colonel Smithers is giving the lecture 007" as the poor bloke the Beatles mocked on the train in A Hard Day's Night explains how the price of gold varies from place to place, as the brandy moves around to sort mirror his point.

    The laser Table scene, and the Hilltop shooting ( very Hitchcock ) And off course the interior of Fort Knox, as a Kid watching it on TV the set looked amazing, Brilliant Cast. Has to be near the top of anyone's List of Great Bonds. Even the Golf sequence played for fun ( at the expence of Mr Goldfinger) :D It also has one of my Favourite Lines, when Goldfinger askes what Bond thinks of his latest Horse, He replies " Certainly Better Bred than It's Owner " -{

I think it would be easier to say what I don't like from Goldfinger: Cec Linder as the ready-to-retire Leiter and the on-cue "deaths" at Fort Knox. Otherwise, everything in the movie rates as among my favorites!

The golf scene is brilliant. I love the way Odd Job cheats, Bond's switch, the way Goldfinger stomps off...
Love the Aston - not the gadgets so much as the screen time it gets just driving.
To be honest Hardyboy sums it up perfectly - the death scenes are rubbish at Fort Knox, and I don't like Felix Leiter. Also the girl pilots look daft in their uniforms... Otherwise, perfect... :D

Although Goldfinger has lots of great scenes if I had to pick just one it would be the "I must be dreaming" scene.

As usual TP, you hit all the spots....

And TSA is right....the DB5 is beautiful without the gadgets....

One of my favourite scenes which may not be as memorable to others is this,

Colonel Smithers: Have a little more of this rather disappointing brandy.
M: What's the matter with it?
James Bond: I'd say it was a 30-year-old fine, indifferently blended, sir... with an overdose of bon-bois.
M: Colonel Smithers is giving the lecture, 007.

I mainly drink brandy, and have always wanted to use that line :007)

I have so many remarkable scenes in Goldfinger, which I really like (though it does not rank extremely high on my favs list):

    The laser table scenes!
The way how Goldfinger presents his plan to his investors!
    The South Beach Fontauinebleau scenes!
    The Kentucky scenes!

But what gets me really excited is when he enters the DB5 in Switzerland. The probaly most breathtaking car (together with the Miura) in the Swiss Alps - Nothing can go wrong for me!

So far, I did not find a Brandy, which I like. I find it acceptable in Whisky Sour but purely, I prefer Single Malts :v
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

I have one more little problem with GF - the duck on Bond's head in the otherwise brilliant PTS. I also agree with all the highlights mentioned in this thread.

One other little touch from Goldfinger, Is the little old lady at the gatehouse. Who picks up a machinegun as Bond tries to escape. -{ Brilliant.
I could imagine her as a guard at one of the death camps in ww2.

I agree the soldiers' deaths from our viewpoint look bad. But if you were a pilot lying over them, they would have been exactly what you wanted to see.

In regards to Felix, Goldfinger was the first Bond movie I saw and so, I had no idea who the character was. He was OK until I saw Dr. No later that year on a re-release. Then I wondered "what were they thinking?"

My favorite Bond film ever! So the whole movie is my favorite scene! If I have to pick, though, I'd go with the following:

    1. The laser table
    2. The golf game
    3. The PTS
"Felix Leiter, a brother from Langley."

Great Film, probably the best in my opinion.

For me the best scenes are the golf game between Connery and Goldfinger.

    1. The PTS. I'd say it's the best PTS of any Bond film.
    2. For some reason I just love the scene where M was giving Bond a dressing down for "borrowing" Goldfinger's girlfriend :))

These favorite scene threads are cool.

This one is easy to pick. The DB5 scenes. To this day the DB5 is my favorite car. It just looks perfect driving through the mountains. Aston Martin has yet to make a modern version of this car in terms of looks and dimensions.

A few of my favourite scenes:

    The golf game.
The scene with M and Colonel Smithers.
Can't leave out the 'laser table scene' as it gives us one of the most famous lines in a Bond movie.
The scene with Q, really the first 'Q lab scene' in Bond history.
The drive in Switzerland ("Discipline 007, discipline")

But my favourite scene is a very small one.... Bond in his cell at Goldfinger's ranch.

In a movie as great as Goldfinger, it's difficult to narrow down the best scenes. Every post before this one has been spot-on. Having seen the film so many times, I find it is the little details that I appreciate more these days. For example, I love how Goldfinger's "personal" mannerisms show up on film -- cleaning dust from his eye after the golf match, wiping his nose as he naps in the back of his Rolls-Royce, coughing as he gives Mr. Ling a tour of the factory. I have no idea if these things were consciously done by Gert Frobe or were just him being a normal person, but I am so grateful Hamilton left them in. Today, no one would EVER film an archvillain this way -- it would all be choreographed and stilted, done over countless takes.
    Hilly...you old devil!

    "Just how personal is that?"
"It means I'm damned good secretary!"
    "I'm so glad..."

    Brilliant stuff.

My favorite scene is the whole opening scene, still the best opener to any Bond movie. but for the rest of the movie, the Golf game and the fight with Odd Job
