Personally I think most will walk away from Skyfall happy
I agree---even if it's merely happy to disembowel, and dissect the entrails :v
Eon has moved in bold strokes ever since Formerly Poor DannyTM was brought on board, largely exciting more fans than they've polarized and/or alienated. This I respect, even if (as with Marc Forster's frantic, too-sparse narrative and chaotic editing scheme in QoS) they miss the mark from time to time. Better by far, in my opinion, than playing it straight down the middle, adhering to the Precious Classic FormulaTM no matter what...and just going through the motions.
I'm looking forward to this Q, and am not worried. He'll be an old man eventually, to a Bond 40 years his junior B-)

I first noticed Whishaw as Keats in Bright Star. He didn't strike me as Q; but, then again, he was supposed to be a consumptive Romantic poet who lived 200 years ago, and I bought him as that. I'm looking forward to seeing what he'll come up with as Q. . .
Thought it a little funny as many have commented on how a young Q is
more realistic as many IT Crowd are young. Yet watching the latest clip
for The Dark Knight Rises, with Morgan Freeman delivering the tec lines
about some new toys for Batman. Not once did I Think "What does this
guy know about tec and Gadgets, He's too Old " )

As far as I'm concerned, the African -American Felix and the female M have worked out quite well. Based on that track record, the young Q should be a hit. We'll see, but I think shaking up the formula a bit has been good for the Bond series.

I first saw Ben Whishaw as Sidney in Layer Cake but I really began to take notice when I saw the film Perfume - The Story of a Murderer. It is set in 18th century France. Whishaw plays a slightly retarded man with the gift of smell who becomes obsessed in creating the ultimate scent, to the point where he commits mass murder on young women. A convincing performance I thought. Just recently saw him as Richard II in the BBC's Shakespeare series entitled The Hollow Crown. Without doubt, his star is on the rise and he is rapidly becoming one of my favourite actors.

Well, there was a time for me where Craig felt wrong for 007, Pine felt wrong for Kirk and Smith felt wrong for Doctor Who but all three measured up beyond my skepticism and have left me longing for future installments. So far, Ben does feel wrong for the role for obvious reasons, but i've learned to wait for the final product before casting final judgment. You never know.

Yeah I've seen him in layer cake, bloody good film that, but I was wondering if whishaw had done anything closer to Q before.
I couldn't really imagine Sidney issuing bond with anything more than a beano mag.

Try the BBC series The Hour. He plays a clever TV journalist in the 1950`s. It was when I saw The Hour I saw Q in Ben Whishaw.

Actually, there was no character named "Q" in the books. There was a Q Branch, which was headed by Major Boothroyd.
But EON wouldn't let him as he was a Film character, Hence we got Q"ute"
