The Casual Shirt

With the Alfani shirt setting the standard for what I'm looking for (I love solid color shirts) in a casual shirt, I've begun the hunt for casual shirts as I look for Budget Bond items to improve my wardrobe.

The Mantis' video on how the shirt is cut got me thinking - can you buy a shirt like that and still tuck it for a more formal setting?

With Skyfall photos coming out, I was looking for casual shirts again, and wondered if Bond could tuck in the same shirt and add a tie to it, and just change out the leather jacket for something a little more office-appropriate.

Now looking at shirts online is difficult, but take a look at a few of these, and tell me what you think:

This is hard to do, because so many casual shirts look either too Alan Harper or too clubhopping frat boy.

What do you think?

Those are nice looking shirts. However, it's been my experience that the fitted dress shirts from Land's End and Ralph Lauren aren't really that fitted at all. I still find them rather blousey. The Land's End Canvas line is a bit more trim fitting, as are shirts from J. Crew. J. Crew actually makes some of my favorite shirts, as they have a nice fit and some really good fabrics. On the budget side, it's possible to find some decent fitted dress shirts at Express or H&M.

Banana Republic is also a good place to check out: http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/division.do?cid=5343

A few months ago, I got a "budget alternative" dark navy blue long-sleeve shirt on clearance for only $30.

Speaking of which, Macy's has Alfani shirts for $24.95.

Land's End is definitely on the loose side. J. Crew, Express 1MX Fit, and Banana Republic are decent choices for slim pickings.

Try Lands End Canvas instead of Lands End...much better fit...and selection! www.landsendcanvas.com

Spent this weekend trying on a ton of shirts. Be sure to check Kohl's. They have some decent slim and fitted shirts.

Anyone have shirts made for them? I came across a bespoke shirt with no front pocket, no front placket and no top button.

What do you think? The clean look reminds me of the CR tuxedo shirt. No tie could be worn with this, but I think this would look SHARP with a pair of straight-cut chinos.

It has the look of clothes worn in the film 'The Talented Mr Ripley'.

I quite like it if it's worn for warmer weather with as you say a nice pair of chinos/trousers.
