wow,
tvo'ed the movie on tv (as i dont have it in my collection)
some movies just get better with each viewing.
i had seen this one only once before a couple years back. felt it was quite dissapointing, especially the openning (what with the lame wedding and wedding tuxes and all)
but how come i missed the rest of the movie???
this is one of the best Bonds of all time!
Dalton played a great Bond, hung on vengeance, and his hair looked better than i last recalled.
maybe it was the spanish in me, but Sanchez is one of the few villians i actually liked! what a well acted character...
and Carey Lowell....omg...woman with a capital W!
i would have been thrown out of the set and put in jail for my attempted indiscretions with this most perfect specimen of a woman...
the story was very real and i actually enjoyed Q in this one (i very much dislike this character in all the series).
the spanish and tropical themes were beautiful throghout the film and the Title Song by ms. Knight is in the top 3, and absolutely one if not the coolest of all Bond title songs.
the film even has made me wish Dalton had stayed longer, as he is definetely a better Bond than Brosnan.
can u tell i loved this film??

Tbh, it's quite the opposite: I had the movie very good in my memory but the more I see it, the cheaper it looks compared to other Bond movies. (Some older members remember, that years ago, it was on top of my fav. list).
The plot seems to be a re-re-re-remake from most of the Miami Vice episodes in the same setting.
I totally agree with you on Carey Lowell, the remaining movie bores me pretty much!
But still love Carey! :x
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
!!?? i had to google the richard gere thing...
yes, yes, he is one veeeerrry lucky dude.
i forgot to mention that the movie even has ninjas! (a most pleasant wtf reaction ensued)
This film is actually one of my favorites because of Dalton and it used some of Flemings ideas from his novels. It was obviously a mix version of LALD and TMWTHGG, but I didn't care. As far as being a Miami Vice like plot - it's true because of its locations and the whole drug lord thing, but at least Davi seemed more real to me as head of a cartel than Al Pacino's over the top thug in Scarface (he was more like a cartel enforcer than a leader). Then again, I wished they had made the plot more political about the revolutions in Central America, and made Davi's villain perhaps an arms merchant as much as a drug dealer. As far as Lowell..I think she is a good actress, but I just could not buy her as an ex military pilot and undercover agent. She had definitely a better character background that a lot of the regular Bond girls, but there are really very few actresses who could pull this off actually, because the more butch they look the more convincing it is. I bought Blackman as Pussy in GF, she really acted as if she could shoot Connery and not care, and that she could pilot anything. I would have preferred seeing someone like Famke Janssen (great in GE) or Milla Jovovich or Lucy Lawless - I would have bought them more in the role. Your right about the wedding scene, it seemed like a leftover idea from one of Moore's films. Poor Timothy kept getting saddled with Moore's leftovers, which undercut his ability to keep the character convincing. I still love the Davi death..it was brutal and very Flemingish as it was done...using the lighter from Leiter to torch him. Speaking of wish..oh god, did they have to have Hedison smiling and in a good mood at the end? It ruined the whole thing..he lost a body part and his wife, and he's happy??? Not even doped up on pain killers would make him like that!!
yes , he was a tad too happy. maybe he didnt mind the wife too much what with all the making out between her and Bond DURING the reception...
instead i would of been yelling at Bond "good he burned alive...but did you cut his @#$% leg off!!!??? Did you cut his mother@##$& leg off damn it???!!!"
-The title song is too bland, they should have used U2
-The way LTK is too flat and static. It should have been shoot with more flair.
- Happy Leiter at the end.
- The bar fight is too silly for Dalton. They should have rewritten the scene and set it in Cuba. A believable place to be for CIA pilot, and they could have made a tense scene out of it.
-While far more convincing in the fight scenes than Roger Moore, he could have been better. With weapons- and fight training like Craig gets Dalton would have been really great.
Agree on the fight scene...it was obviously played for laughs. If you picture Moore in it, you can see how it was more like his take on Bond. That was the problem with this picture..they tried to balance the brutal moments with these broader slapstick kind and that never works. It dilutes the reality of the story and weakens the whole film.
The scene was sooo disturbing for some reason and then i fell off my chair laughing!....La Bamba (wtf??)
