Hi Guys, I bought a Prop from someone and need your Help. ( Not purchased on Ebay!)
Its a Piece of Parachute Silk from TWINE, Bond removes it from his pocket and shows it to Zukowsky.
I have doubts that its one from Production and would like to ask if either someone has one in their collection or whether anyone can give me details on the screen made Prop. It comes with a COA but as we know.. Kleenex! :-)
The one I have is printed on a Silky type Material, but I don't think its Silk, its somewhat heavier material, this made me a bit sceptical as the screen used one really "flowed" when dropped on the table, secondly, looking at the screenshots I made, the one on screen had the printing shining through to the other side, (the paint probably seeped through) this one is only printed on top and nothing shimmers through.
see pics
This is the Silk I bought (Looks shinier than it is.... is actually matt like screen shot.)
This is the screen shot...
Can anyone help..??

Well firstly its very difficult to tell from pics.
However yours are good enough to identify a couple of things.
1 this is not the item in the screenshot...the cut of the material is completely different around the 8 o'clock mark ( assuming a clock face)
2 the material looks wrong - your suspicions are right about the shimmer and translucence.
3 as a prop it's probably only worth a couple of hundred pounds max.... Not really worth knocking off but hey there are some who have done bulk knockoffs of dad door cards etc...
So I'm sorry to say but id guess it's a knockoff.
Cheers
the printing itself looks too white, i know the screeen grab is a low light condition, but even so, the original looks a darker shade, not white, maybe a 20% grey?
the material looks too cheap and shiny. often replica prop makers use cheap alternatives for materials, and it doesn't pay off.
the cut edge looks too over done for my liking.
also props like this are rare, as in there'd be 2 or 3 at the most made for filming. think about when the film was made, and also that items like this are easy to pocket and quick and easy to dispose of, so the chances of this being the item on screen popping up on the grid are very very slim. most items like this go into collections of people with the right connections and disappear for a while and hardly seen or heard of again.
sorry pal, but i'd say you've got a fake there and depending on numbers made will show whether it was a bargain or not. if it's screen printed, chances are someones done a run as setting up a screen printer for just one would be too much hassle than what you'd be able to charge for it. say it's one of 50 or so, i wouldn't recommend paying more than £50.

But this one is not mine. I would also NEVER claim it to be real.
NMS
nms75... If it had only cost a fiver I would have just kept it as a display.... but it didn't :-)
thanks again boys
I too have a silk from TWINE mine was mounted which has been removed. The plums actually glued it......
The silk feels real with a nylon backing for strength. The logo looks like a rollered stencil and as you can see the star is slighty sloping.. Any clues???
