what phone are we hoping 007 will have this time ?
is the franchise still tied to Sony Erricson ?

    Well now that Sony have bought out Ericsson all new phones will have just the Sony branding and if I remember rightly Sony are doing the film distribution for skyfall so I imagine they will want to continue their association. Sony have got a new smartphone due out next year with a higher screen resolution than the current iPhone 4s at 341ppi. Currently being developed under the code name Nozomi.

    Alternatively Microsoft are chucking ridiculous amounts of money behind Nokia to develop a new range of Windows phone 7 mobiles so they could stump up the cash to get a tie in with Bond 23.

    I expect a current Sony touch screen phone will be in the deal, but its on-screen graphics will be ridiculously fluid and capable compared to a real smartphone OS.

    It wouldn't make much sense for a current SE phone to be used as by time the film comes out it will already be regarded as out of date and from a sales perspective Sony wouldn't make much because the phone would have already have been out for a year. They will want something that is to be released in time for Christmas 2012. I'm putting money on a Sony Android phone.

    Yeah... I remember when Iron Man came out, all the characters were using Verizon LG phones (product placement). I work for Verizon, and we had a tie-in with life-size cutouts of Iron Man in our locations, etc. What was funny is that all the phones in the movie had already been discontinued the previous year. I guess the movie was in production for a while. We had customers coming in asking for 'the Iron Man phone'. Most weren't interested in getting the newer models - they wanted the phone Iron Man used, dammit! Proves that product placement works, I guess.

    Current as in current for the film release. I don't mean they will be using a phone available a year before release.

    When QOS unveiled the silver C902 it was made available in May some 6 months before the release of the movie.

    Going off topic I think Sony would focus on promoting their new tablet.

    Well it better had be better than the Sony E version of the smart phone... I was a sony e fan for a while... but the Xperia was just awful - and I've now gone to an HTC - which I love.

    It will be interesting to see what Sony comes up with...

    You know, I tend to think of the movie-goer as an innocent victim of product placement: he pays his money to see a film and gets bombarded with brand names, covert commercials, etc. This thread--and the one drooling over the watch Bond might wear--shows me how naive I am: looks like some victims are more than willing!

    You are not alone Hardyboy, I was seriously pissed off with QoS, not just because of the amount of too easily perceived product placement during the film, but also the "bash the audience on the head" advertising before it started!

    I admit items in my wardrobe, as well as my watches , phone and other accessories may also reflect Bond's taste / style, but I carefully avoiding products that scream "THIS WAS IN THE LAST BOND FILM!!" - Bond is about the man and his lifestyle, not the brands he uses. Ahem - no offence to all those who do, and wear it well! {:)

    That's right, and many of us are victims of the large number of James Bond related items, watches, eyewear, clothing, accessories.
    I am a victim of it, although I recognize that just use the products of james bond

    Must admit I am the victim of it to some extent with the clothes etc however mainly buy the things that I like or suit me! Im thankful to have discovered Sunspel as their items fit me great however not a fan of cardigans! OK I'm a sucker lol

    I would never ditch my iPhone for a Sony mobile mind! :D

    Me and iPhone are sticking together too. If there were a Sony that really got my attention in the film, it would be a backup.
