Just read that Mr Ritchie is in talks to make a movie of The Man From Uncle which if true and going by his Sherlock movies[loved the first and no2 looks great] then I think it would be great.
So in a few years time with new cast, what does anyone think of him directing say Bond 25 and the reason I say new cast[before anyone starts] is that I would assume that it would be in a similar vein to the Sherlock movies and so maybe not suited to the current leading man's style.
I'm not a big fan of his gangster films but as I said love the whole style of Sherlock so I would be keen to see what he does with a spy movie like Uncle then maybe Bond.

He might me a bit more Rock and Roll over elegant for a Bond movie. I am a fan of all his movies though. A lot of fun and a lot of style.

I think G Ritchie is a fantastic Director. love all his movies, except that one with Madonna

And think he'd do a great version of The Man from Uncle, as IMHO he's a great story teller.
Holmes 1 was a hoot and I too can't wait to see Holmes 2.

I wouldn't be totally against Guy directing a Bond film...not sure the Bond purists would take to his style of directing...he uses slow-mo a lot and just look at the flack Lee Tamahori got using the same slow-mo and jump-cuts in DAD...

I agree with M, - I loved Guy Richie's take on Holmes with Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law, and looking forward to the sequel, but not sure how his take on Bond would work? Mind you, slow mo I could handle if used correctly. Its jump cuts and shredded editing I can't stand!

I guess the trick is keeping Bond fresh, without loosing the classic aspects that made the concept popular in the first place. I don;t envy any writer or director on that front.

Just saw SH2 last night and loved it..... Can see Ritchie directing a bond certainly...

And is it just me or was there a bond feel to SH2?

Gypsy camps, fights on trains, poison darts, even moriarty had a bond villain feel to him....

Well... Maybe not....

I would like to see him attempt Flashman, which really deserves a big movie treatment, very unPC though and requires ideal casting in the lead role.

Sorry, folks, I find Guy Ritchie entirely overrated as a director. He's never been much more than a Quentin Tarantino knock-off; and, more than Tarantino does (which is difficult), he calls more attention to his own camera tricks and postmodern riffs than to storytelling. Keep him away from Bond. And UNCLE. And, yes, Sherlock Holmes!

Have you seen the Sherlock Holmes movies, HB ? I really enjoyed them and they are probably his best work to date....even the camera tricks work

Sir M, I saw the first House--err, I mean, Holmes--and it was enough to convince me I don't need to see another. For what it's worth, I don't hate Ritchie--I actually got a kick out of Snatch--but I don't think he deserves to be hailed as some sort of innovative auteur.

I think he is just known for a specific blend of twists and style that he uses to transform what might be a bit of a generic or standard summer movie into a quite a ride with a refreshing sense of humor. He makes robberies, shootouts, and negotiations look and feel like a special occasion compared to other movies in the genres, especially the usual Hollywood approaches. I definitely think they are a fun time.

I certainly wouldn't hail him as an auteur....but he is a good director...maybe he needs to pick his films a little better from time to time...

HB - why the House mention ? Do you mean he's like Sherlock ?

I've never seen House so that's why it's probably lost on me
