Two Indian Navy Sea Harriers from the aircraft carrier INS Viraat went missing this morning around 5:45 am. The pair of jets was on an exercise patrol around the Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal, when they disappeared from radar, and communications were lost with their pilots. Both jets were fully armed with AIM-9 Sidewinder, and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles. The Global Intelligence Agency (GIA) is monitoring this situation closely said Alfred Bottoms, director of operations GIA.
