' Royal Mail are marking the 50th anniversary of the James Bond series with a very special limited edition commemorative sheet, featuring ten iconic Bond movie poster labels alongside ten, first class, Union Flag stamps. With 22 movies to choose from however, the task of deciding exactly which of the iconic Bond images will make it into the pack is fiendishly difficult. Which is where you come in because the final ten posters will be chosen not by Royal Mail, but by you, Bond’s most loyal fans. Every Bond movie poster from the last 50 years is available here to view, allowing you the once in a lifetime opportunity to decide which of your favourite ten will be immortalised in this special edition. Can't believe Casino Royale is number one (as of writing). It's a great film and all, but the poster is rubbish.

I was sort of surprised by that too. I think the classic posters are better and I also figured that the youngest Bond fans wouldn't be as likely to vote in this kind of thing. I guess since it happens to be the most recent and is still in its fresher popularity that it is coming to mind for many. When it came down to it, there just weren't other posters that I really wanted to have over it, though. I guess people just commonly pick it in their ten, rather than the vote indicating people really feel it is the best.

I chose the ones with the best poster, not judging the film, etc, goldfinger, OHMSS, etc

I did it more based on the films. I chose each Bond's first performance and then other standouts. Wanted all the Bond's represented and then other one's I just loved.

I chose based on the posters too, but I also wanted all 6 bonds to be represented. This could partially explain why CR is on top. IMO it's the better of the two posters from the Craig era films. Then again by that logic OHMSS should be towards the top too. :s

Thanks! I matched the top 8. My choices of TSWLM and OHMSS do not appear that popular!

I am glad to see the Goldeneye poster doing so well. I'm also quite surprised! I matched the top 8 with the exception of From Russia With Love.

I just came from voting and I am a little surprised that Thunderball is not doing well, as I find its art to that vintage appeal of the 1960's film posters.

I cannot wait to see which posters get chosen, as I would like to add them to my collection in the near future.

I'm assuming they're only using the posters from the official Bond films. And I'm perfectly fine with that.

It is celebrating the EON franchise, not Bond media in general, so no NSNA.

Erm, what I saw my top 5 is represented there, then only AVTAK in next lot, but no Connery in the top 10. Odd. Mostly Moore.

The poll has now closed. The top ten (which will be released on the 1st May) is as follows.

    1. Casino Royale
    2. From Russia With Love
    3. Dr No
    4. For Your Eyes Only
    5. Goldeneye
    6. Goldfinger
    7. The Living Daylights
    8. Live And Let Die
    9. Moonraker
    10. On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Personally, I am surprised to see CR at number 1, as it is rather bland. On the other side I would expect OP to be much higher.

I can't believe Casino Royale is number one. That poll must be fixed.

Probably all fixed, don't recall many Connery films in there beforehand. Not a bad choice otherwise. Come to think of it, the more complicated posters like YOLT just wouldn't work as stamps, they're too intricate for such a small item, you couldn't see them properly.

At least one film from each Bond, not bad.

No Thunderball in the top ten.
Oh well. Maybe next time; in another 50 years.
  • Mr BeechMr Beech Florida, USAPosts: 1,749MI6 Agent
I was hoping Thunderball would be in too. Casino Royale seemed like a likely win to me, simply because the younger votes would say it is the best recently and it has the approval of many older fans. The pre-Craig posters would require more serious fans to get real support. Casino Royale just requires that you were old enough to see it when it released. :)) Doesn't mean it is the best, just means it has the widest range of voters.

    Some things just suprise me.

At least Moonraker slid in at Number 9.
Enjoyed the book, was O.K. with the film, loved the poster.
