Any news on Octopussy Faberge egg replicas?

Grant99Grant99 Posts: 6MI6 Agent
There is a seller on ebay that was advertising very good replicas of the coronation Faberge egg from Octopussy last year. When I contacted them this week to purchase one, they replied "Unfortunately due to Licensing Laws I am unable to sell you a Coronation Jewelled Egg in Emerald Green." Why would anyone care if this company sold these eggs in green? Is this because someone else plans on selling them as Octopussy replicas soon? Someone here mentioned last year that they were working on them but I haven't seen anything since then. Any news or rumors about this lately?

2 years ago I also wanted to buy the egg from the same company.
I got a quote, but did not immediate order the egg.
Some months later I wanted to order. But then the company was no longer willing to sell me the egg due to license reasons.
At the same time I got a mail from a well-known member of this forum that he had an exclusivity contract with the company and that I was not going to get it! ?:) Being a stubborn and weird guy, this encouraged me even more to get one. I always want what I can’t get and I always do what people forbid me.
I asked one of my colleagues in the UK to contact the company. I instructed him not to use the words ‘James Bond’ or ’Octopussy’. And guess what, all of a sudden the emerald green egg was available again.
The egg is now in my collection, so no hard feelings. :p
It is not 100% accurate, but for now the best you will find.

If you are really not able to buy the emerald green egg. Buy a yellow one and use some MARABU emerald green glass paint.
    Problem solved!

I used to sell the Eggs made by the above but it all went very wierd after selling to a guy in Malta and Germany and I got some strange emails from all sorts of people and I think they were going to make their own. Its about 4 years ago now and I cannot remember exactly what happened but I always thought the Fine Jewelled Egg co item was pretty good and looked great on display, it was not totally screen accurate but it certainly held up its own as a display piece. We sold about 80 eggs and they came on a black display base or a black display case with glass door. IMO the price was pretty good for the item as well at around $400.

I would say it is 80% accurate.
Would be nice if FE could make something more SA.

That is the version that's been around for several years.

This company made a new version available in 2011 that is more accurate. Price was still about 295 GBP (US$462 at today's exchange rate). Here are 2 photos of it:

Actually, the auction link on ebay UK from May 2011 still works:

I got the Coronation Egg directly from Fine Jewelled Eggs back in 2010.

Let's face it that eBay ones were sold under the James Bond name

and company doesn't have licence to produce Bond replicas, perhaps we'll see Factory Entertainment making a run someday

    as they are current licence holders -{

I've heard the same. Story tells that "someone" has not yet decided which stones to go with the egg ;)

OH Christ!! Just noticed that Bondtoys banner is gone..... :o :s

    Thanks Kan and thanks Ian,

I have been kindly told, that my banner has the potential to stir trouble (however I disagree) and I have removed it.

I am not keen to put the board into any kind of problems and decided to be cooperative in that matter.

@Teppo: The stones will be kept like with the original prop. Pete's suggestion and he's always right when it comes to props ;)
