Thunderball - Aston Martin poster

I have an original "Bond drives an Aston..........Naturally" poster which I am selling. It isn't mint, it has some creases and a small 4 inch tear running up from the bottom but restored and looked after it could be very nice. I know what the value would be in mint condition and have some idea what the value is in non mint condition but I am open to offers.. I was given the poster by Aston Martin themselves nearly 30 years ago.

As I said privately, I'd like to see pictures. You can post them here.

I believe there was a limited edition reprint of this poster too. The original has to be nearly 47 or 48 years old. You said you got it "nearly" thirty years ago? If it's a reprint the value would be less, but it's still collectible. What size is it?

My understanding and my sources tell me the originals were printed in 1965 in conjunction with the film, this was one of a few that Aston Martin had kept, the only reprints took place in 1999 as a commemoration of some sort. When this was given to me in the early 80's it was only 18 years old or so and was not worth much at that time, which is how I obtained it. I have no proof other than I remember what AML told me at the time and in contacting them recently the chap i spoke to had no recollection of any other reprints before 1999. He also stated they would not have sent me a print themselves "as that would have been tacky" and that in those days they were happy to send items of this sort out when they had a few left, they wouldn't do it now - he said. Size is 20" x 29.5".

Well, the February 14, 2001 Christie's James Bond auction catalog says the poster is supposed to be 20x30 inches (76.2x51cm) and the reprint is supposed to be 20x29.75 inches from what I understand. Yours is, as you say, 20x29.5 inches. Could be a rounding up on Christie's part. Beyond size, there seems to be some damage to the image on the side of the car. Is that correct?

To be honest I measured it very quickly and it wasn't laying flat but as to the damage it is just the tear running from the bottom which is about 4 inches in length which touches the car, the rest is just creasing.

I'm going to have to pass on this one. Good luck.

You will get the most money for this poster at the Bonham's Aston Martin Auction at Newport Pagnell this May.
Look on the I-net for the particulars of how to sell and item there. I have been to that auction three times, and there is a bidding frenzy on all JM/AM related items. The big players with cash are there. You should get twice what someone on Ebay would pay!
Good luck, and if you get $1000 or more, pls send a commission cheque!

unfortunately I am out of the country in May, but thanks for the heads up on the auction. I wouldn't sell it on ebay anyway. If anyone has any sensible offer I am happy to sell it. Though I have to say Aston Martin were very surprised there were any of these left in private or non collectors hands. I think the only reason is that if I am honest I forgot I had it, after nearly 30 years, a marriage, divorce, 2 kids and a few house moves I'm not surprised I forgot it. It deserves a good home with someone who will appreciate it more than I. No sensible offer from collector refused. Any questions not already answered please let me know on here or call me on....

    *EDIT*
As safe a forum as this is...I still think it's unwise to post your mobile number. I've removed it and would suggest that anybody whom is interested in buying it should PM the guy for more info/offers.
    Sir Miles.
