Rubber - Stunt Guns / Scenes and Films

Hi Guys - just a quick note: :)) not looking to buy, not
looking to sell - not looking to know any laws or get
into a long conversation about the laws of owning a film
rubber stunt gun etc :)) :)) :)) :)) :007)

ok now onto the main point of the post - just interested
in the history of the use of the rubber stunt guns in the
Bond films... can any one pin point when certain rubber
stunt guns where used and in which films, where rubber
stunt guns used as far back as Dr. No? I wouldnt have
guessed ?:)

Hardly any have came up for sale over the years - any
that have - have mostly been from Goldeneye Onwards

I saw one from NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN up for sale a
while back an UZI i think it was used in the finale by
Felix Lighter

where any of the Moonraker Lazer UZI's rubber Stunts
I know some were solid static versions, and some
special effect versions with more detailing etc

I am sure there was a RUBBER STUNT version of the
Piton Gun used in the Dam jump in GOLDENEYE by the
stunt man

would be cool to get some opinions and info when and
where Stunt Guns were used during the series

Cheers Guys

You may be surprised to know that stunt weaponry, although not rubber, was utilised as far back as From Russia with Love.

nice one cheers guys... I thought a few resin
weapons were used on FRWL... one being a
Mauser from the SPECTRE Training camp that
was then used in the weapons try in the DB5
in Goldfinger which has became famous with
the whole history of the DB5 and its world
tours... and getting it through customs etc :))

In Live and Let Die, when Tee Hee bends the barrel of Bond's Walther PPK, a Model Gun Club replica was used for that scene, and a thinier barrel was added to it to make bending it easier.

Also in The Spy Who Loved Me the M16's taken by the submarine crewmen are MGC replicas, along with the M16's used by the Cuban soldigers in OP during the teaser until Bond shoots out the jeep tires. Also in CR during the footchase the P99 in Bond's Vega IWB 339 holster is a rubber stunt gun for safety purposes. When he shoots Mollaka and the gas tanks he uses a blank firing gun.

    ppw3o6r - :) yea i think thats the one :007)

thanks for the info guys.. Was that Mauser
a resin or rubber stunt? Seeing it again I
dont think it was the same one frome The
DB5 - as the trigger on that was moulded
in the pulled position. was it used in one of
    the promotional THUNDERBALL DB5's maybe

Thats another thing... I know The Original
effects car from Goldfinger had the weapons
tray then the road version was converted
afterwards into a gadget verson by aston and
not EON or John Stears etc.. but recreated by
aston based on the original gadget car.. only
Aston used better mechanisms etc that were
designed for lasting longer than the initial few
mins the film car was converted for etc ... Then
the 2 promotional cars... for tours etc .. but
did the road car conveted that was auctioned
off recently that used to be owned by Jerry Lee
have a weapons tray... I am guessing it did but
not publicised for obvious reasons ??????

A key thing to bear in mind according to www.imfdb.org is that unless the gun in question is going to be fired it is usally a rubber stunt gun that you see sitting in a holster. Also anytime a gun needs to be dropped or destroyed while filming it is usally a rubber stunt gun or another type of replica, as a blank firing weapon is far too expensive to risk being damaged. Model Gun Club replicas in the past were also used for this purpose.

PS: Sometime ago the rubber version of the Armalite rifle Bond uses in TND was for sale though the London branch of Propstore.

Without getting into specifics, look very carefully at the shape of the trigger on the Mauser in the famous black & white plate of Ken Adam at his work station at Pinewood Studios in the late 1960's. Its the shape it is because post Goldfinger/Thunderball the trigger was broken off & stuck back on incorrectly so yes it is the weapons tray Mauser Broomhandle.

yea it is that prop! and no mistake at Ken Adams window :007)

In 'The Most Famous Car in the world' book - there is a detailed
photo of the mauser from the original effects DB5 - The original
tray - had a mauser but also the AR-7 from FRWL, and not the
stock to convert the mauser into a longer weapon, I am guessing
the mauser with the moulded fired shaped triggger, was from the
original DB5... and the Mauser with The Mauser Stock you have was
from the later Thunderball DB5 or one of the Promotional Cars

I am guessing each DB5 Weapons tray had individual items and
they didnt share items... so in theory their must have been more
than 1 Mauser DB5 prop ...... as I say just theory

I will need to have a look at the book again to see - now that you
say it, i thought it was odd for the trigger to be moulded in such a way

I am not doubting you at all, i just need to satify my own curiosity
and have a glance at the book again

how long have you had this amazing prop for? a true Gem :007)

Many decades, I'm one of those self appointed Bond experts, Robert Shaw was my UNCLE, or was that Robert Vaughn?
I know he had a pretty cool gun...lol, but joking aside, it was utilised at the SPECTRE training camp in FRWL but was made for Shaw's character Red Grant & later found its way although unseen into the DB5's weapons tray. You know where it went after that!

In Die Another Day when Bond's S&W model 10HB revolver is picked via the electro magnetic field in the MRI machine at the Cuban clinic it was a rubber stunt gun. IMFDB.org even has a picture of it on the Die Another Day page.
