Hi all
I see the Skyfall watch thread has attracted much interest in what will be on Bond's wrist for the next movie. Quite understandable and I am a bit of a watch nut also. However, once the model is confirmed officially how many of you plan to actually purchase this watch?

That thing is stunning.
Ditto, definitely on my to buy list. It seems the Tudor line is the only place you'll find homages of old models. The re-issue of the Tudor "home plate" was very well done and now this. Very close to the Tudor "big crown" 7922 and 7924, but with some nice differences, red bezel etc.

That's the most accurate watch I've ever seen...
I'm still looking for the perfect modern Bond watch with a retro feel if that's possible. Basically what I mean is modern lume (blue instead of green). Retro RAF strap with a newer tech material without the cloth keeper. New materials and a design that is fresh yet still understands its origins. Right now, I'm heavily leaning towards the Certina Diver with the rubber strap. I'll probably use the rubber strap on dives and a RAF strap normally. I still think the Brosnan Omega is the perfect modern version of the Rolex but it's best with the bracelet. The watch fits Brosnan's more flashy Bond. I want something more subtle for my next watch. I guess I would call it a modern Connery Bond watch.

A new Seamaster was unveiled before Xmas - it has a ceramic bezel and the waves are gone!
Here is a pic of it (nicked off another forum)
That looks like a fake or some kind of cobbled together watch. I don't remember seeing that at the fairly recent Omega event that they had in Italy (I believe).
Fake? You are kidding right? Loads of news items about it around the time it was released
Here it is on the official Omega website, it has replaced Daniel Craigs Casino Royale era version

I find them plain boring and overpriced in the meantime.

I guess I missed the news story. I only check the watch sites every quarter or so. Still, I thought that the waves on the original Seamaster were a nice touch. They are subtle and the effect is different depending on the light. It was like Omega was trying to get away from the Rolex design. I wish there was a site or something that had the history of diver's watches. It's amazing that the Rolex design is so iconic that companies can't help but use the Submariner marker designs. Probably my favorite current almost completely original dive watch is the new Oktopus by Linde Werdelin. But that doesn't have the Bond simplicity and really is a sport/diver's watch.
When I saw the first pic you posted I immediately thought it was a fake or mod because of the missing waves. Also, because I couldn't see the crown guards. It's strange that Omega would update this design when they have the newer models out.
