Here is a picture of the complete 1st English editions of Ian Flemings James Bond novels. They are currently for sale online. I have over 800 pieces in my James Bond collection that I accumulated over 3 decades.

Absolutely not book club editions! All of them are first state, first impression, first editions, and from England!
And there was no way to make sure they actually were signed by Ian Fleming

That is correct. Fleming isn't the most plentiful of autographs - possibly due in part to the amount of time he spent in Jamaica each year away from his office, and also his early death. However, there are still quite a few genuine signed books as well as letters available. Alas, there are way more forgeries out there as his autograph is much in demand, relatively scarce and quite valuable: three things that crooks love. Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of Fleming forgeries are very easy to spot if you have any familiarity with his signature and handwriting at all. If you familiarise yourself with genuine examples, spotting the fakes is quite easy regardless of the supposed provenance of the piece and the story that goes with it ("My dad's next door neighbour's aunt's son's goldfish worked as a donut baker at Pinewood and had this book signed..."). If still unsure or nervous, the limited edition of OHMSS is certainly guaranteed and a rock-solid investment.
